New member welcome thread..

Hi everyone new member from Scotland here. I recently bought a new to me, C400 GT coming from my wee runabout Seat Mo. So far really enjoying it & are currently adding a few Wunderlich bits to it.

I found this site after coming a cropper with a missing battery nut & are not only hoping hi can find the solution to the issue but also to properly contribute to the site going forward.

1) Welcome.

2A) If I understand you correctly, i.e., if you're still missing a battery-terminal nut, those nuts and bolts are just general-purpose, i.e., not some weird BMW part, but rather supplied by the battery maker. So you should be able to find what you're looking for in a good hardware store, either an exact match or a suitable replacement.

2B) If you're new to working with batteries -- don't mean to insult you, if you're not -- keep in mind that you should disconnect the negative/ground/black terminal, and set any wires on that bolt well aside, before working (tightening or loosening) with the positive/hot/red terminal bolt. And then reconnect the ground side.

The point of all that is so that there's not a potential complete circuit when you have a screwdriver or wrench or socket on the hot/red side. If the ground side were still connected and you were messing with the hot side and a tool were to touch a frame piece, you might create a massive, sparks-flying, tool-welding, short circuit.

Yup! Your correct, it is that nut indeed. I've thud far anyway, only looked for it online & asked a few biker friends only to come a blank so cheers for the knowledge that I should be able to locate one at a hardware store(sadly the local one our neighbourhood had is now gone) so I'll head to one the next free moment I can & hopefully pick one up

Thanks for the advice but I can say I did & do follow correct procedure when working on batteries 👍

Hello from Germany,
My OTTO is a C 400 GT.
Sorry my English is a Katastrophe ☺️
Welcome from New York state (i.e., USA).

What year is your C 400 GT? New or used?

Your English is much better than my German, and I spent 1969 - 1971 in (West) Berlin, in the US Army.

[Google Translate:]

Hello all, I'm Mike from Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. I just purchased a brand new from the dealership 2023 C400GT that I got a very good deal on due to it not being the current year. So far I'm enjoying it immensely and was happy to find these forums full of great info and with currently active users. I've already posted one question and will probably post more as this is only my 2nd real bike of any kind (I also own a 2015 Honda PCX150) and I'm still fairly wet behind the ears even though I've been riding and doing a bit of tinkering for a few years.

Hi, I’m new to scooters having ridden big BMW tourers for the last thirty years and an assortment of other bikes for thirty years before that. Just downsized to a 2016 C650gt. Only took delivery on Tuesday and had a short ride out after checking it over yesterday. First impressions are very favourable and I look forward to finding lots of info/hints and tips on the forum as well as, hopefully, being able to contribute in the future.

Welcome from Southern California! I mix between my K1600 GTL, a very big, heavy bike, and the (still relatively heavy, but much lighter) C650 Sport. I think you'll like the Sport, especially if not planning long stretches of fast highway trips.

Thanks for the welcome, not much chance of long fast highway trips in the UK😂 The back roads, are much more fun!
We used to do a lot of touring in Europe but travel insurance for Europe is becoming more difficult (and expensive) for me now.

Hello all from a chilly Inverness-shire. Currently putting the C650GT back together for the warmer times and hopefully some trips to the West Coast and Islands. Also have a 2010 Multistrada 1200s for fun on the continent and we hope to have the Rosyth Ferry back next year. Cheers.

Hi, all, checking in from Gloucestershire in the UK. Collecting my 400 GT on Monday. It’s an ex-Demo 1000 miles on the clock and seems to have been a real steal. If my wife asks it’s my daily commute, but I plan to be out and about visiting various places across the UK with my tent.
