C400x clutch behavior

Hello to everyone.
I am noticing that on my c400x the clutch is working rough and I don’t know if it’s normal or not.

I’ve ridden other scooters before, kymcos and Vespas. I never noticed that when you are opening gas theres any vibration, just a smooth acceleration.

On my c400x more than a smooth acceleration feels a bit more chunky. Something like releasing the clutch on a tractor. It has some “intermittent” behavior that feels more rough.

I don’t know if it’s normal, or if the fact of having a bigger motor, just don’t know.
I would like to know if yours are also feeling the same way and if this is normal in this scooters or just could be a malfunction in mine.

Also, btw has anyone tried the Malossi clutch kit? I am wondering if this one could be smoother than the original spec clutch.

Many thanks

Greetings from North Lake Garda in Italy!

How many miles on the scooter? If you have more than 5000, have you cleaned that bell housing area?

I cleaned mine when I changed oil at 5000 miles and it was not very dirty. (Not near as dirty as my Vespas got.) I have had no issues with the harshness you are talking about however those Vespas I had would get really dirty in about 3500 miles and would run harsh from the take off. Once cleaned they would be much smoother.

I have around 12.000 km. I never did anything on it since I have the bmw service included. However I would suggest that they don’t do anything about it.
Would you tell me the steps or procedures to do the cleaning? I have enough tools and mech skills 😛

Thanks

Go to this post. Cleaning the CVT
In the second post you will see a detailed video on cleaning a CVT.
I just removed the front cover and blew all the dust out of mine as best I could when doing my oil change however I use to take the housing off on my Vespa 300 gt and do a much better job of cleaning it every other oil change. The better the job you do the longer it will last.

I believe the recommended time for changing the belt is between 8k and 15km so it could be that you need a new belt and of course you should clean everything if that is the case. The recommended roller replacement I beleive is 20km. You should definietly inspect the belt at 12000 km if you have not done so. I suspect you can find Youtube videos on how to do this. I have not done it on my bike yet so can't help with that. But I did notice another post about a clacking noise and I beleive it was his belt tensioner being the problem.
