Just made an appointment for my 600 mile maintenance check. Does $240 sound about right? The following is what is included.

  • [*=1]Setting service-due date and countdown distance
[*=1]Performing vehicle test with BMW Motorrad diagnostic system
[*=1]Replacing front oil strainer by oil intake pipe
    [*=1]Changing engine oil with filter
[*=1]Checking chain sag and checking security of threaded fasteners of swinging-arm housing cover
    [*=1]Checking front/rear brake-fluid level
[*=1]Lubricating bearer of Bowden cable for parking brake and checking basic setting and braking effect of parking brake
    [*=1]Checking play of throttle cable
    [*=1]Checking coolant level
[*=1]Checking tyre pressures and tread depth
    [*=1]Checking steering-head bearing
    [*=1]Checking lights and signalling equipment
    [*=1]Function test, engine start suppression
[*=1]Final inspection and check of roadworthiness
[*=1]Performing vehicle test with BMW Motorrad diagnostic system
[*=1]Confirming BMW Service in on-board documentation

Sounded reasonable to me and I have been nothing but happy so far with the GT...

Just under $200. Seems like several of us have run into the unexpected chain tensioner issue at this 600 mile service. It's warranty. Don't give them an inch to try to charge you as a wear and tear item......if they even come up with the tensioner issue.

Cool. Price seems ok. Actually not as bad as I expected. But wish I thought to have them include that first one as part if the purchase.

I did my 600 mile last year and I only bought 3 quarts of oil, I had some mobil 1 10w40 4T that I top it off with. I plan to do the same next oil change soon. I bought 3 Hi-Flow HF-164 oil filters on ebay for $5.00 a piece with free shipping and I don't remember what I paid for the strainer and oil but I must have spent $40 something and not $30. I just edited my post and changed it to $50.00.

Wow 15.00 dollars for there filter crazy I use the Hiflo filter also which is a better filter than bmws
and I also paid about $5.00 for it and they also charge you for 4 qts and the bike uses 3.1 liters with filter or 3 qts plus 4.8 oz

When I took my bike in for the timing tensioner noise BMW responded with... "We are apprehensive to do any diagnosis or warranty work until the proper maintenance has been done". This was at 6k miles and wanted them to look around anyways, but I thought it was a curious response. Just something I thought I'd share as we all should be preparing for the recall to be announced at some point.
