just saw on ebay

I'm not a real experienced "eBayer," but... why would anyone post an item for auction for LESS than he's willing to accept for it? That whole "reserve not met" thing confuses me...
 
Most auctions allow a reserve price, but surely he would have put the start higher, maybe 8k? I thought it might be a member but only saw the black one sold in Phoenix. Weird
 
Starting prices are sometimes set low to get the interest rolling. Then a bidding war begins. Honestly, the only way to really win an eBay auction is to literally bid at the last milisecond of the auction with an outrageous offer as the bids go up incrementally. I've kept several windows open and keep hitting refresh until I launch my bid. It works but you have to be at the computer working the page to ensure success.

Yeah. Too damn much work. If there's no "Buy it now" price, I move on to the next ad.
 
True. The Reserve Price is hidden from all the bidders, so you just blindly bid, put in the highest one at the last minute, and STILL don't get to buy it. They obviously think that the demand for an item will drive the price well above the normal resale value. Good luck with THAT...
