I'm convinced! My new C600

I don't have the details but the day my bike was shipped from SoCal, the dealer sent an email saying multiple BMW's are involved in something with the switches.
 
I have yet to ride a BMW scooter but currently have a 2005 Burgman 650 and a 2013 Kymco Xciting 500RI ABS and lots of other maxi and mini(?) scooters in my scooter history but none of them had any significant engine noise so my question is this: Is it something you grow used to or do you use ear plugs?? What about handlebar/ floor board vibration?

The C600 is on my short list right now!

This is only my second two wheeled vehicle ever so...I don't really think the engine is loud. The wind noise on the other hand is bad, so I wear earplugs. I do wear a shoei full face helmet but it's still too loud for me. As for vibrations, not an issue.

Very little engine noise / vibrations. However, wind noise can be an issue depending on your helmet and height. I'm 6'ft tall and the wind screen in the highest setting gives me some serious helmet buffeting above about 65-70mph. No buffeting at all at the middle setting. Lowest setting puts too much wind on me for highway riding imho. Its ok, but I feel like I am fighting the wind too much with my body (although it is great around the city during the summer for the breeze).
 
I have the 650GT and agree with all of Edumakated's observations. Motor has a nice noise signature. A lot of the folks here have replaced the windshield for wind noise cancellation. I added a Wunderlich deflector to the stock windshield and it does a great job of knocking down the wind noise. I don't think of the engine sound in any way as unpleasant.

I added the SHOEI Whisper Strip to my Qwest, and now I don't even use my earplugs for shorter rides any more, it's THAT much quieter!:cool: The DON'T sell them in the US, only else where. I got mine from England.

I do not find the engine noise objectionable. In fact, I like the purrr that turns into a growl as I turn the throttle with my stock muffler.

I've said it before, but I'll say again, the wind noise was reduced significantly after I added the Aeroflow (6'2" and I sit relatively tall in the saddle).
 
I fall into the camp that thinks the engine noise is a bit loud. But then I come from riding Goldwings. The 650GT is noisier than the Burgman 650 and the Silverwing in my opinion. I don't feel much vibration at all on the GT. Wind noise is about the same to me as on the B650 and SW. I definitely like riding the GT over the other two scooters that I had, this one has better acceleration and lots better handling. Not to mention the convenience of the single sided swing arm. Over all I definitely like the GT better than any other maxi scooters I've ridden.
 
Thought I would continue this thread rather than start a new one. Some updates on my progress towards making it "my bike"; some pics are repeats here.
First things first: a top case. Ordered the GIVI rack and installed it so I could use my GIVI E37 case.





Next, the tunnel bag. Considered the BMW bag but opted for the bag designed for the Yamaha TMAX; fits nicely.





After deciding not to go larger with the topcase, I decided to buy the matching gloss silver lid and backpad to give it a finished look. I like it. Now it looks like it was designed for the bike, not an afterthought.







That's all for now. I do have my eye on more accessories:
Barkbuster storm guards; keep the wind off so the heated grips work better and won't need bulky gloves.

Rear hugger to keep the underside cleaner; lots of muck gets underneath and even onto the end of the seat.

And a different windscreen of some sort; most of you have read my ongoing documentation about that.

And maybe someday if I find extra cash laying around, and exhaust. Akra probably but who knows.

Looks pretty doggone great!

I admit that adding Barkbusters to this type of bike makes me laugh a little until I really think about it. Have the Kawaski version on my KLR and they do make a difference (although the reason they are on that bike is not for wind chill protection, of course). Your point about helping the heated grips work even better with lighter gloves makes sense.
 
Thanks. Yeah the barkbusters are called stormguards and don't have the same sturdiness as their other types of handguards. I will report next winter on them.

I haven't found the Ermax hugger to be much use, I think it's too small.

I notice your license plate holder doesn't have any infill panels - did you take them out or did it come like that?
They're what make the real difference, although some dirt still gets through on to the bottom of my top case all the same.
