BMW LED turn indicators

Be careful that any replacement light system draws exactly the same current as the lights you replace. As others have discovered, the computer in the CANBUS system knows EXACTLY how much each circuit is supposed to draw when it is working properly. Any deviation is interpreted as a malfunction and may result in that particular system being shut down...

I have a couple of lighting projects that I am about to go ahead with. One is an installation of Denali D2 lights up front. My intent is to go straight off the battery with the provided harness although it does need a relay wire to the full beam so it reduces the intensity when full is not on. The other project is the top box brake lights which are ready to go. That will be of course wired to the rear brake light and therefore within CANBUS. Although it draws very little I suspect it just could set off a warning in the system. I doubt the lights up front and the relay will trigger anything but someone on this forum will possibly know. All this is waiting for some not so good weather as I intend to enjoy the good stuff while it's here!
 
That is my assumption which is why that company made that resistor.

I may be confusing the issue here by introducing brake lights (added in my top box) into a thread about turn indicators. I am possibly wrong but I though the use of a resistor as is advertised was to reduce the LED replacement indicator flashing rate but it's not needed for brake lights. From some past car projeccts where I added some interior LED lights the draw was so insignificant that it didn't in anyway upset anything or require changing fuses or adding resistors.
