I had a Kymco 500 that had a "growl" coming from the CVT. It was common to the model. As I have said before every bike has its own peculiar noises that just take time getting used to.

IMHO if the defective tensioner is the "producing cause" of the valve and piston damage it will be covered under the warranty. That would most certainly be the case in Texas.
I had installed a Yoshimura exhaust and Power Commander module on my Burgman 650 just because it was over-the-top. Performance and sound were enhanced - but mostly sound.

One warning - until the bike has been ridden long enough to get the oil very hot (10 miles or more) you will not get an accurate dip stick reading - the mark will show low on oil when that is not the case.
