    No Problems... 2013 GT - 35K+ Miles

There is no doubt some people have experienced devastating problems with their bikes. I'm heartbroken over seeing what Jamie experienced recently. I have written elsewhere on this forum about getting one of the new BMW 750Li cars in the early 2000's that had terrible problems - mostly...

    Rode A Customized Victory Vegas

I've been exclusively on the wonderful GT since 2014. Today a friend needed me to ride his Victory Vegas about 30 miles customized by Arlen Ness. Most of it was unfortunately on the freeway. Its a big V-Twin with no windshield. The 30 minute ride felt like 4 hours. Arms and wrists sore...

    Picture upload flipped 90 degrees?

I'm uploading a picture and it flips 90 degrees. Is there a way to edit or stop the automatic change in orientation? Here's the offending pic. Its right on my end before its uploaded.

    Commuting In Full-On Rain?

I've got a new 52 mile commute thats actually a nice ride through the countryside from Napa to Healdsburg in Sonoma County. No cement/asphalt 101 slab! I've got rain and heated gear and have ridden in rain but more by bad luck. With the right gear it was never a big deal although it wasn't...

Maybe The Worst BMW Scoot Failure Story

My friend bought a 2013 GT just after I did. I just got an email from him about his experience: "I do have a funny story about the scooter - last week in september i brought it in for servicing because the temp light kept coming on. They did diagnostics, and replaced a whole bunch of...

    After-Market Rear Shock?

I've seen a couple after-market rear shocks. Has anyone tried one? Was it worth it? What were the differences?

    Napa Road Water Damage

I took a ride in the awesome weather over Oakville Grade. One of my fav. twisty roads. The road damage was surprising for being on a "mountain" area. Some large water saturated trees fell on the road so lots of cut sections on the sides of the road. At least 3 road sections washed out where...

    TPM Did its work!

Got on my bike and got the TPM warning on rear tire - impossible to miss! Said it was at 20PSI. I kicked and pushed the tires and they seemed fine. So I doubted it .... I was pretty close to home so I drove home on surface streets. Went down to 19PSI so I thought maybe there was something...

    Passenger Foot Pegs

My passenger is asking for an additional set of foot pegs for an alternate position that is a little higher. Seems like the best mount opportunity is the frame just below the seat. Looks like I could cut the plastic exterior for a perfect fit. I've looked at the Kuryakyn parts and I'm sure...

    $2,480 for 24K mile service?

I'll have paid for a new bike soon! Just got this quote from BMW SF. They are emailing me a breakdown of what this entails but is seems to be a record shake-down from what I've seen on this forum. I thought it was pretty much a repeat of the 12K service which was about $1,200.00 - most of...

Best place to mount heated gear socket on GT?

Finally got heated gear and wish I did sooner. For now the power wire is routed through the opening at bottom of the handlebars "plastic cowl." It works but.... I bought a panel mount and I'm still thinking of where to drill and install. Any ideas on the best place to locate the panel mount?

    Heating Buttons and Dash Reversed

It's a small thing but I noticed I was looking at the dash and pressing the wrong buttons on the handlebars for my heated grips and seat. Then I noticed the order on the grip vs. dash were reversed. Wonder why... Was mine put together wrong? Maybe I can switch them.

2016's On The US BMW Website

Interesting they mention the Sport as well. Perhaps it will make a comeback. http://www.bmwmotorcycles.com/us/en/fascination/c650sport_c650gt_webspecial/main.html

    Stop Sale On GT's

I was at the dealer today getting my new kickstand on and on the check-in vaguely noticed them looking at what first seemed like the radiator but then I realized was more like looking at the front brake and following the line up. Then after getting in the showroom someone came in asking about...

Can It Go On The Freeway?

For more than a year I've been nice to other bike owners asking about the GT. It always seems like the conversation is missing critical information and I have to prove it is more than moped. A conversation I had last night is motivating me to try something else. I was standing with a friend -...

    Mirror Stalk Blind Spot LED's?

As I'm going to mod my rear top case with Admore lights I thought about the new (except not for us in the US) mirror stalk warning lights and how they flash with turning signals. It made me wonder about mounting some smallish (I don't want to blind myself) yellow LED light on the stalk and...

    Maui Trip

Rented a 1600GTL for a day in paradise. Speed limit for most of the island is 45. Rode towards Hana till too much rain. (there's a reason its so green) Then back up to the mountain; finishing in Wailea for the sunset. What I liked most about the bike was the super smooth suspension. What I...

    Scorpio Ride GPS

I was thinking about some security and this seems like an ultimate security sleuth system - besides other tracking stuff it does. I had a bike stolen about 20 years ago and if I had this kind of deal I could have both got police involved and tracked it myself. Has anyone used this kind of GPS...

Has anyone tried the Ohlins rear shock?

    Not the spread-leg saddle position.

Having the opportunity to ride my brothers 1200 GS Adventure bike I was immediately reminded how much I now prefer the seat positioning of the GT scooter. Besides all the foot position combinations it provides more opportunities to move around which are not possible on a motorcycle. Another...
