I have a rear tire that needs replacing but can't seem to find one. My local dealer has some on backorder but doesn't know when they'll come in. I'm already having withdrawal symptoms.
I finally found a set at Bike Bandit. Not the Metzeler OEM tires but Michelin Power Pure. The specs are pretty much the same. Fairly reasonable price including free freight. So I'll see how they perform compared to the Metzelers.
The Power Pure is a dual-compound tire that's supposed to wear better on the highway. I hope so, I just replaced my gummy-bear rear Pirelli Diablo with that same 160/60-15 Power Pure...
I got the Michelin Power Pure rear tire on today. Feels very good so far. I gave it a good workout to get the mold release worn off the full width of the tread. I'll get the front tire replaced with the Michelin in a couple of weeks when the bike goes in for its 6000 mile check. I've done business for at least ten years with Bike Bandit, they've always been good if not the lowest price but this was a very good deal for these two tires. Around $239 for both with free shipping. I got them two days after ordering. Good thing I ordered them when I did because the rear tire is 'out of stock' on their website, both the Michelin and Metzeler. I wonder if it's because there are so few scooters using these tires? Or is it because the BMW scooters are now coming up on four years of production and are needing tires? Either way, grab 'em when you can, mine were pretty shot at 6000 miles.
