ASC?

Reading my new manual, bike is a 2016 C650 Sport bought from a BMW dealer with new tires. I'm reading the manual about ASC ON/OFF and tire calibration. Maybe the dealer did it maybe not. So I can recalibrate. But generally do you prefer ASC on or OFF? How does it affect the bikes handling?

In my case it rarely ever kicks in but, it being a safety feature, I am not interested in turning it off. Sometimes it cuts power just a bit when I pull away from a traffic light but traction is compromised. I am happy the bike has such features. Not that long ago, the ABS saved me from a light bump into a car in front of me.

I’ll probably leave it on too, I don’t think I have felt it working yet but you have and it was a good thing. I think of it as an extension of ABS brakes.
I noticed that the bike was a little slow to accelerate from stops or exiting corners compared to straight ahead while already rolling and the manual talks about that too.
Even though it’s a 2016 it seems to have some pretty advanced driving features with ASC.

From your signature, do you like Husaberg bikes? I just put up mine for sale here in France, a 550 supermoto from 2004. Talk about acceleration!

Good catch! I took that “handle” when I was riding the D36 Enduro circuit on a Husaberg 470, awesome machine when it was running!

It turns ON every ignition on. Not much choice but to recalibrate and curse each time it slips on white stop lines.
This is why I never stick my nose out at stops like the other bikes - this leaves larger distance between rear wheel and stop line, giving it a chance to already be well spun so no ASC cutoff happens.
Still beating others off the lights haha.
