As promised here are the photos for the seat Corbin made for the C650GT using my bike. And you here are seeing them first as Corbin has yet to post to their photos to their site. Please excuse the dust as I picked it up in Hollister, CA on Fri 9:00 AM and drove 12 hours home to Phoenix, AZ. Was a bit wiped out on Sat and went for a brief breakfast run ride this AM.

Once I got the backrest adjusted properly the seat was very comfortable. When the weather in Phoenix cools down I will put together a more comprehensive appraisal of Corbin's efforts. The folks there told me when they posted the news that there were working on this seat and were almost done they got a tremendous amount of inquiries.

Here is a link to all of the photos: Corbin C650GT

To be somewhat gauche - how much did they charge?

Part of the deal is if you let them keep your bike for 3 to 6 weeks to use as the model they will give you a fully equipped and featured seat. So I paid zero, zilch, nada. You'll have to wait until they get it posted to their website to find out as they did not tell me. But now that I think about it, I didn't ask either.

Like others, I'm anxious to hear what you think of it over a long trip. Also, if you carry a passenger, I'd be interested in her/his opinions as well. It looks pretty good.

With work keeping me out of town and temps hovering around 110˚F when I am, I've only managed to put about 75 miles on the new saddle. My girlfriends says this might be the most comfortable seat of all the seats on all the bikes I've owned. I know the rap on Corbin is that they can be hard but that is not my first impression.

Time and miles will tell so hopefully this weekend will provide me some time to test that and my new AeroFlow windscreen! Was in Anaheim area this week on business right when Paige was packaging up all of your pre-orders for shipment. Will be taking some comparison photos hopefully today.

Corbin seats are very firm, but that's a GOOD thing. How it feels when you first sit on it is pretty much exactly how it feels a few hundred miles down the road. The only issues I've heard with Corbin is that if the seat doesn't quite fit, or you have problems, you're pretty much on your own as their customer service is/was beyond useless. I hope that's changed... it's been awhile since I've dealt with them.

One other issue I recall... they refuse to seal the seams so if you get caught in the rain expect embarrassing wet stains in your crotch area for DAYS afterward.

HA again... I live in the desert. My dealings with them so far have been very good. Even though they "gave" me the seat they still followed up to see if I was happy.

I live in the Northeast so rain is a fact of life here for me. Since I wear an Aerostich suit most of the time, the "wet seams" issue isn't as big a deal as it USED to be, but I do remember it was ANNOYING as hell.

I had my first and ONLY encounter with Mike Corbin in the late 80s at Americade when (of course) it rained and I had "wet crotch" every time I rode my bike from the hotel to the TourExpo. I asked him why they didn't seal the seams at the factory and he gave a pretty snotty response regarding buying a seat cover.

WTF?? If I paid for what is advertised as a PREMIUM PRODUCT, why the **** should I have to spend more on an UGLY cover for that seat when the stock seats from the factory didn't have that issue???

I'd since learned that my experience was NOT unique. Thanks to the internet, I'd learned that quite a few people had the opinion that he made a good product, but the man himself was an a-hole. Perhaps that attitude is what drove his customer service employee's attitudes as well?

Like I said... that was quite a few years ago. I HOPE things have gotten better. I only need to get burnt ONCE, though, and I'm done.

How are you liking the seat so far? Would you spend the money for it at the price Corbin is asking?

In the middle of about a 1000 mile 2 day ride. The seat has been a tremendous improvement over the stock one. I could not even dream of a ride like this with the stock seat.

As for would I spend the money... I'd prefer to have another seat to compare before I'd make that call. But from my experience over the years, this is a very good alternative.
