Lifting the front...

Need to replace the front tire soon. I am thinking about using a 12"x12" piece of plywood as a platform, and placing the jack under the radiator. There's no place else "forward" to put the jack under. I would then support/stabilize it by hanging it from the grips, using tiedowns attached to the garage ceiling.

Any thoughts???

TIA

BMW has a bracket for lifting the bike off the ground. it has 3 points. 2 short points pin two holes in the catylitic converter and a longer one reached a point towards the front.

This is pretty close to what I do with my BV250. I throw ratchet straps over the ceiling joists and tension them until the bike is steady. Not sure I'd do it with my BMW, however, due to the weight. Of course, if you're sure your structure will support it, I say go for it. BMW's wheel lift probably isn't cheap :)

You wouldn't happen to have a Part #, would you?

Actually, I seem to remember a similar issue when we did the tires on my TMAX. Our solution was to put the scooter up on its centerstand and secure it with straps so it wouldn't collapse. We then used ratcheting tie downs across the passenger seat to lever the front wheel up off the ground. Of course, this will only work if you're working on a lift...
