does anybody have suggestions to coax a bit more horsepower out of the 400gt yet?
Not I. And if it's still under warranty, I'd certainly leave it alone.does anybody have suggestions to coax a bit more horsepower out of the 400gt yet?
I believe @byee had some improvement with his exhaust project. There are chip mods that quite a few on the Facebook forum have applied and report more than a 10% increase in horsepower.does anybody have suggestions to coax a bit more horsepower out of the 400gt yet?
thats what i need..can you direct me in that direction, like maybe a name of the company that can do that?I believe @byee had some improvement with his exhaust project. There are chip mods that quite a few on the Facebook forum have applied and report more than a 10% increase in horsepower.
if its mechanical, i never leave it aloneNot I. And if it's still under warranty, I'd certainly leave it alone.
I admire your spirit, and I think I understand it. I have the same sort of position, myself, regarding adding lighting and other electrical goodies (e.g., Powerlet outlets, USB ports, etc.).if its mechanical, i never leave it alone
I'll try. I could not locate the post on FB. I asked the question about performance mods on your behalf. I found this on the web but just a blind search. https://www.mod-files.com/tuning-file-v2/motos/bmw/c/2000-0/-/400-gt-x/34hpthats what i need..can you direct me in that direction, like maybe a name of the company that can do that?
thank you for the response.i and do thank you for your concern..I admire your spirit, and I think I understand it. I have the same sort of position, myself, regarding adding lighting and other electrical goodies (e.g., Powerlet outlets, USB ports, etc.).
So there's that.
But I am also still a bit shell-shocked, having had a failure in the engine of my '22 C 400 GT. In my case, BMW replaced that bike with a new '23 C 400 GT -- if you have some free time, you can read about that here:
BMW Swapped Out My Used '22 C 400 GT For A Brand New '23 C 400 GT ... Free. [Part I of II]
Today, My Used 2022 C 400 GT Was Replaced By BMW With A Brand New 2023 C 400 GT. Free. What's In Your Warranty? If those statements pique your curiosity, and you have some free time, here's the tale, in chronological order. Note that it starts LAST year, almost a year and a half ago. [Note...www.bmw-scooters.com
And that's where my in-warranty warning comes from. Had I messed with the engine, or exhaust, or drive-train components, that sort of thing -- and I most definitely had not done so -- I'm pretty sure I would not have gotten BMW to step up with a replacement.
Certainly your bike, your choices. But that's where I was coming from, when I posted in this thread.
Edit addition: If you read that long "replacement" post, you'll come across my purchasing a Royal Enfield Meteor 350. That has the same size engine as the C 400 scooters, but makes 20 HP instead of the Beemer's 34 HP. There is constant chatter on the RE forums about massaging the 350s, such that they make greater power. And there are constant responses -- not by me, as I stay out of it -- to the effect of: if you want more power, buy a 650 RE, or, really, pretty much any other bike.
i would love to hear from anybody who has done this to thier 400gt, or any other mods for that matterI'll try. I could not locate the post on FB. Hi Bill, this is off topic, but up until a few months ago I owned a 2023 Gunmetal Gray Royal Enfield 350 Classic. The build quality, engine smoothness, comfort and looks were amazing. But I need to fit two cars AND my bike in the garage, so eventually I sold it for better highway capability and now have a 2022 C400GT. But Royal Enfield certainly makes a wonderful little bike in their line-up of 350's.I admire your spirit, and I think I understand it. Oh, hey, what's a little thread-drift among friends?Hi Bill, this is off topic, but up until a few months ago I owned a 2023 Gunmetal Gray Royal Enfield 350 Classic. I could not agree with this statement more! Conversations evolve. I never understood, honestly never, why so many contributors on forums get their ire up over "off topic." I love to learn and welcome it all!Oh, hey, what's a little thread-drift among friends?
Phad Motorrad is apparently the mover and shaker in tuning BMWs. He does it remotely via the internet from what I understand. Changing the air intake, exhaust, and the Phad Motorrad upgrade, the bike will do 105 MPH/170 KmPH.i would love to hear from anybody who has done this to thier 400gt, or any other mods for that matter
im gonna look into all that stuff! thanks againPhad Motorrad is apparently the mover and shaker in tuning BMWs. He does it remotely via the internet from what I understand. Changing the air intake, exhaust, and the Phad Motorrad upgrade, the bike will do 105 MPH/170 KmPH.
You would think I was asking to throw a virgin in a volcano or something with my question. "Blah blah blah warranty." "Blah blah blah buy a bigger bike if you want to go faster." "Blah blah blah the scooter already does 90." Blah blow your engine blah blah blah." Anyhow Phad responded to the post. He said to PM him on WhatsApp +66846683699 for more information and discussion. I did a quick search of the forum, and he has positive reviews.
Most users who upgraded to Malossi agree on two things, it is much faster through the entire range and the top speed becomes limited. This gentleman suggests that the flash doesn't do that much, which is actually plausible.
"There's little to gain from the electronic side. What truly makes a huge difference is changing the transmission. I got the full Malossi kit and my c400gt runs like the devil doing 0-80km/h in 5 seconds and 0-100 in under 8 sec.
https://www.malossistore.com/.../bmw-c-gt-400-ie-4t-lc..." Order the entire kit and the belt is the consensus.
There were a few references to a lambda emulator improving performance with no mention of a brand. I know nothing about them but clearly by their name they are some type of fuel/air management device.im gonna look into all that stuff! thanks again
i like you! where do you get all this cool info? There were a few references to a lambda emulator improving performance with no mention of a brand. I know nothing about them but clearly by their name they are some type of fuel/air management device.
Thanks. I dislike most Facebook offers, but I do use it as a utility. The C400 forum over there has over 6K members. About anything that can be done to this bike has been done by a member over there. And actually, it is a pretty nice group of people.i like you! where do you get all this cool info?
