Side panel repaint

Has anyone had a side panel repainted? I have one that's a bit scratched and I'm not sure what a paint job might be vs a new one that's likely about $350 Canadian/$250 US.

Do it yourself and it won't cost much.

Well, that might take a skill set beyond what some of us possess. I called my local BMW car dealer and asked where they had their work done. Cost me $100 (cash) for a perfect job.

I think the car and bike colors are the same so it wasn't a huge leap for them. But, yeah, I was pretty pleased with the price and the quality of the work.

Thanks - am going to dealership body shop and one independent on Monday to see but sounds like it's almost definitely cheaper than replacing. Printed off paint code info to make sure they get it right. Also thought of wrap on panels but quickly dismissed idea.

Mine had some scrapes on the edges down to the white (primer, plastic, base coat???...whatever it was). I took the panel to the local BMW motorcycle dealer and he had no suggestions. So, I bought some touchup on-line. Followed the directions to the T and it still looked...like I bought a touchup kit on-line and did it myself.

My local BMW car dealer does not do his own body work so he gave me the 2 places he uses. I called them both and got lucky with the second one. Maybe he was a motorcycle guy. I really am amazed at how today's body shops can get such a perfect match. The BMW MC dealer could not tell which was the damaged panel.

I have both sides with a bit of the surface scraped but it's fairly light. In both cases another option is decals as both are about 2" x 5".
One side came from dropping the bike when it stalled cornering. Stalling itself ended up a recall/warranty repair issue but not the dropping part! The other side was a little bit of off road riding where I should not have been on a scooter and a low hanging tree limb I clipped when I swerved to avoid a big dip on the path. Thinking of some form of adventure bike as most of my riding buddies are into that.

Went into a local BMW car dealership (not Motorrad) this morning and spoke to body shop guy. He quoted $150 per side and $300 total. Decided to also check another local independent body shop that I used a few years ago for an insurance claim with my car. Guy quoted me $100 cash for both and he will do this week so I left panels with him to do. It's a high end shop so I have no concerns about getting good work.
