Anyone know what the maximum weight the official BMW rack can support? I have a Shad case SH45 and they recommend not to exceed more than 11 pounds. The way the Shad mounting plate is constructed, it's a little elongated and I don't think it can support too much weight. The BMW rack looks like it's flush to back of the scooter making it look like it can handle more weight.
My reasoning for asking is i'm looking at pet carrier and they have two options, mount it on the seat or on the luggage rack. I don't think the seat option will work since there isn't a good means to attach it from what I can see. They instructions reference a sissy bar and the SHAD mounting system looks a little to thick to strap over it. If the weight the limit on the rack is 11 pounds that won't work because my dog weighs 16 pounds. I would like to take her with me when I ride to my vacation place in Vermont instead of dumping at a neighbor. I am little iffy about putting it on. God forbid if it the drops on the NY Thruway..
