Wunderlich CE-04 rear light protectors

First time posting here as I've only had my CE-04 for just over a month. Apologies for a new thread on this topic but the others seem to be more about how to get them and where.

I bought a set online from Wundelich in Germany, I'm in Scotland. Although the list of suitable BMW bikes that they can be fitted to did not include the CE-04 I can confirm that my European spec bike can take them just fine.

It was a ten minute job to fit each one to each side. Tools needed were a TORX T30 key and a 10mm combination spanner (wrench). The box contained the black light guard, a longer TORX bolt to replace the one already fitted, a small black plastic spacer and a dainty little tube of thread locking compound. You reuse the existing nut that is on the bike. Very impressed with the results.
The reason for installing this in the first place is the second time I parked it up in public a young kid eagerly ran round the bike, as his dad was asking me if he could sit on it. The boy caught the leg of his shorts on the left hand light cluster and I thought it was a gonner!

Hi @alexw146 Thanks for sharing the photos, I bought my CE04 in January 26 in France, where I live. The rear indicators have a plastic guard, not that it helped, my son was getting on the back and snapped the left indicator :-( I attached two photos that include the (ineffective) plastic guard, do you think the Wundelich guard will still work with the plastic guard, did you have this part also, if I buy the metal guards maybe I should remove the plastic ones when I change the indicator...? Thanks mate.

Hi! I would say that you would remove the plastic guards or any other after market protection THEN fit these guards.
I was concerned that the light would be covered too much by the fitting but that's not the case. The light is just as visible to other road users.

What I like is that the metal is strong, definitely not flimsy. It might sound odd but every other protection is close fitting to the lights where as the Wunderlich guard sits away from the light so there is no contact at all from legs, bags etc.

Some people will prefer the minimalist look of the close fitting guards where as I think it suits the aesthetic of the CE04 having the ones I've fitted.
 
For a replacement, look for a S1000R indicator, they're essentially the same (much cheaper, too) but with a shorter cable. Meaning you'll only have to dismantle the indicator housing instead of half the scooter and can then solder on the new indicator cable onto the leads that are already there.

Hey @alexw146, that's done and they’re ordered, thanks for uploading the links the Wunderlich website will be useful for future purchases also. Just one more question if you don't mind, did you have to thread the connector end of the indicators through the protector or did the LED end fit through to mount them. I'll have to take the rear wheel off and buy a torx wrench anyway to change the broken indicator but don't want to do it twice if the protector take a while to arrive so will wait if that's the case. Thanks.
