    Variator needed to buy

"The stock variator is good. I would suggest ... Dr. Pulley Sliders - 28 Gram weight ... If you REALLY want to change the variator, go with the Italian made Malossi - Multivar MHR" I second the recommendation of 28-gram sliders from Dr. Pulley. I installed them on a 2013 BMW C 650 GT and they...

    CE-04 Maintenance Video

In an Eastern European language but visually it's helpful to see what's happening: gear oil, belt change, remove rear tire, etc.

    Noisy motor? (You tell me)

Stop it already? Like I would listen to you for a millisecond. Stop talking through your hat. That's the issue, doubtful you can see it. I'll leave you to your fascinating thread of, "Man, BMW is so unreliable because my beater had an oil leak."

    Noisy motor? (You tell me)

Instead of defining the entirety of BMW reliability by one guy's car overheating, try Consumer Reports. They monitor and measure things like reliability. For 2022, BMW automobiles are in the top 3 in the world.

    Noisy motor? (You tell me)

I don't need to own a BMW automobile to recognize wildly inaccurate statements and object, especially when they concern a brand I respect and motorcycles I love. That simple. Nothing personal.

    Noisy motor? (You tell me)

"Talking through one's hat." Now that seems more accurate.

    Noisy motor? (You tell me)

That wasn't clear because you referenced Yamaha, then made a sweeping summation of reliability for a global (car) manufacturer, stated as fact ("it is a bmw trademark for most of their products to have timing chain, oil leaks and overheating issues.") If we say "most" is equal to two-thirds, as...

    Noisy motor? (You tell me)

Wildly dramatic statement. Evidence? Examples? Anything published? Can you cite one person or company that credibly explains or supports this? Not two, just one. And this: "bmw trademark for MOST (emphasis mine) of their products to have timing chain, oil leaks and overheating issues." Wow...

    Noisy motor? (You tell me)

Voila, instant noise reduction. I never ride without them. These cut engine noise significantly but you still hear traffic sounds and voices. Because they're not cheap, I sometimes re-use them if the ride was short. I've tried several brands but always come back to these.

    DIY TPMS Change

It's kind of like GOOD, BETTER, BEST .... GOOD: Plug the tire. BETTER: Plug the tire, take it off the bike and install a patch inside the tire. That gives you double protection against leaks. BEST: Replace the tire with a new tire. Plugging is a simple process, as the video below shows. Long...

    DIY TPMS Change

I got a flat last week in the rear tire of my 2019 C 650 GT. Front flats are unusual, usually the front tire stands up the nail or screw for the rear to run over and puncture it. I always keep my tires at 36/42 and the reading never varies more than 1 psi. Riding home from the beach, I noticed...

    Dr. Pulley weight question

UPDATE TO THE UPDATED UPDATE: Worth noting: Dr. Pulley was super responsive to my email inquiries. Always got back with detailed answers within a day (keeping in mind they are halfway around the world where it's 2:00 a.m. tomorrow when it's 1:00 p.m. in the U.S. EST). If you have a Dr. Pulley...

    Dr. Pulley weight question

UPDATE TO THE UPDATE: Reply from Dr. Pulley clarifying "Classic" vs. "Euro" and their opinion on optimum weight for sliders on 2018 to 2020 GT's .... "Dear Mike: The only difference is color, material is the same. Classic is original color; and Euro is black color. If you may need more...

    Dr. Pulley weight question

NEXT DAY UPDATE: Dr. Pulley's website recommends 30-gram sliding weights to replace 33-gram OEM rollers for 2014-17 GT's and 40-gram sliding weights to replace 43-gram OEM rollers for 2018+ models. HOWEVER, the BMW dealer parts website shows 2012-14 models have a different part # than 2015+...

    Dr. Pulley weight question

My 2019 C 650 GT is at 12,600 miles so I'm getting ready to change the belt, probably at 15k. I'm planning on Dr. Pulley sliders and insert pieces. I wasn't sure whether the insert pieces were SP-AH or SP-AE, so I emailed Dr. Pulley -- I mentioned I was planning on installing their 28-gram...

New C400GT Owner, Albany, NY, Area (May 2022)

TMax is a good idea. I have long been impressed with the passion owners have for the riding experience. That said, I've never even seen one. BMW C 650 GT is my first choice. It's the only maxi-scooter that lets me stretch my legs out fully without removing the butt rest, like I have to with...

New C400GT Owner, Albany, NY, Area (May 2022)

Mr. Bill, You are, and were, correct, thanks. I have the AAA form filled out and need to get two passport photos taken and mail in the application. Except for the BMW C 400 rental info you helpfully provided for Edelweiss, I've had zero luck finding a maxi-scooter rental. I think the BMW C...

Travel and Trips on your 600/650

The headline and the point of this post, if you want to skip the color commentary below: "Wow, I really enjoy fast, superslab riding on my BMW C 650 GT. That is new to me. I was always a reticent rider on interstates." I am planning a long trip this summer with my bike. Last summer, after I...

Diagnostic advice please for 2016 C650 GT - MotoScan App & OBD2 alternative

Um, because I didn't know you could do that? Great suggestion! Didn't mean to make my process sound "frantic." It's not. Smooth but fast and less than 10 seconds for the changeover, and it works. You just don't want to dally, because the circuit won't "remember" the power supply through a...
