    C650GT Rear Wheel Bearing Life

Thanks Kiss4u, that makes perfect sense. Have not yet had the time to replace the rear wheel bearing but should be able to in the coming weeks and will report back.

    France officially allows lane splitting

News flash is that, after a trial period that started in 2016, France is now offiially allowing lane splitting (under conditions, such as other traffic stopped or moving slowly) for motorcycles. Most European countries allow it or at least condone it so it is as prevalent there as it is in Asia...

650GT General warning light flashing RED

Usually the warning light accompanies another 'symbol' on the dash that tells you what the precise issue is. Look for another small symbol somewhere on the dash that looks unfamiliar - there really should be none visible best I recall.

    Bang!

    Great advice!

    New Member

I'm also on the K1600 forum, lively bunch that. Congratulations on your C400, I really like having the choice between K1600 for comfortable long distance high speed cruising and the C650 scooter for in-town shorter distance shopping runs.

    New member welcome thread..

welcome and congratulations with your purchase, and for creating the sentence of the year 2025 (to date anyway)! 😉

Did it, installed Zumo XT! (but have another question)

Counter clockwise I am 99.9% sure on the handlebar weight-ends to loosen. Clockwise is only very rarely used when the object being fastened is rotating clockwise fast which is not going to be the case for your handlebars (most of the time anyway ). I would not use a torque wrench to...

    Bang!

If the timing chain skipped but the engine is turning over smoothly, just not starting, then I suppose there could be the off-chance your valves did not get damaged, but only the timing of the engine is out. I don't know enough about these engines to really know what to do next but my guess is...

    I got screwed!

Not sure I understand completely - but, I was the one who posted that, on inspection and wanting to 'up' my chain rail from what must have been the original one (I bought my scoot with less than 2K miles on the clock) I found that it already had no 2 installed, so I upped it to no. 3. So...

    Bang!

I highly doubt the car engine would fit without many serious modifications, and even then the electronic connection to the bike might not be possible. Isn't there a used 'proper' C650 engine around in the UK?

    Hello

Congratuations on your purchase. 900 miles is a long ride! Not sure what to advise on the training/learning part - I taught myself to ride my first moped (Yamaha FS1 50 cc 4 speed) at age 16 and have been riding since, no classes ever, passed my motorcycle permit tests in Europe and the US no...

    end of J. Costa

Thanks for reporting your experiences and I'm sure you will get the C650 'fighting fit' again.

Problem with the front seat heating

Maybe try spraying in some contact cleaner into the switch on the handlebar - and try unplugging and plugging back in the plug to the seat. If those don't work, I would be out of ideas (but I would check for codes / see what my Motoscan app would be able to diagnose/find). Good luck!

    Cold Start and Idle Sound

Quite a difference in sound. If you still have the mechanical timing chain tensioner, it may be on its way out. My 2016 Sport sounded rattly from cold with only 2K miles on the clock, dealer replaced the tensioner under warranty at that point. The rattly noise would go away after the bike warmed...

    Replacing CVT air filters

Hi Bill, no, not circlips, these are very strong steel metal band clips that are integrated into the design of the shock - see this picture:

    Replacing CVT air filters

The shock came in this afternoon, I installed it in a 3 minute job and it works perfectly - much stronger holding the seat up, no more 'sagging'. It's the original BMW part. You have to use a small screwdriver to pry 'up' the small metal clips that keep the shock legs attached to the ball...

    Replacing CVT air filters

I just ordered the original BMW seat 'shock absorber' part from this company earlier this week, fair price and should not need to do any modifications to make it fit: https://scooterpartsco.com/

    It can be done

The cat is 17 years old and she's rather deaf so she probably didn't 'experience' it much different from the ensuing 10 hour plane ride to Paris! She's quite 'food-motivated' so after we got to the airport she got some treats and all was well. She has Dutch, Swiss and French passports, quite the...

    CVT Rollers

With everything opened up, I would go ahead and replace them, especially since you say they are worn unevenly.

    Driveline vibration elimination (hopefully!)

No update, because I solved the problem by buying a 2013 K1600GTL 'El Toro' that effortlessly and with 0 vibrations carries me like on a magic carpet the 122 miles to Los Angeles in the morning (and of course 122 miles back in the afternoon). So, have had less incentive to work on the C650...
