Hey guys I've been using these compact air pumps for years in my bikes however the CE 04 has a different 12 volt port . Could someone point me to a US link where I could buy an adapter. My air pump has a standard 12 volt cigar plug.

Thanks in advance - Mike

@Low On Cash :

I don't have a CE-04, but I'm guessing that yours has a BMW/Hella/Powerlet/DIN female socket. BMW has been using this type of socket on their bikes (instead of the usual cigarette-style female socket) for, oh, decades now.

Assuming that's the case, what you need to get is an adapter for your male cigar/cigarette plug (i.e., the end of your pump), such that it ends instead with a male BMW/Hella/Powerlet/DIN plug, for instance one of these:

Go to the Automotive Parts & Accessories drop-down section of the Amazon search box, and enter something such as cigarette to DIN adapter or cigarette to Powerlet adapter, for instance, and you'll get these and other results. Check the reviews to see if you can get a feel for the quality of the products in question, of course.

Alternatively, if the cigarette-style male plug on your pump is attached to the out-going wire on the pump by an SAE connection -- that is, if your current plug isn't hard-wired to the pump -- then you could probably eliminate the male cigarette plug entirely, by getting something like these:

(That's the result of an SAE to DIN adapter query in the Automotive ... section on Amazon.)

The reason I mention this is because a lot of 12V devices -- such as Battery Tenders and similar devices, along with a lot of 12V compressors, etc. -- have the final plug attached to their built-in external wiring connected via an SAE connector like that. If in fact the final plug of your compressor is connected to the compressor's wires via an SAE connector, this SAE-to-DIN type of cord is a much better solution, as it will make a much more reliable connection.

I added an external BMW socket (i.e., in addition to the one inside a cubby) to my C 400 GT, to make it easier for me to plug in a smart charger and also to make it convenient for me to plug in heated gear (with the proper coax-to-DIN adapter). This is something I've done on a bunch of bikes over the years. In this one picture in my GT gallery, you can see that last kind of adapter directly above (although I made this one myself, from parts I had) -- the SAE to BMW -- at the bottom of the pic, where it connects to the lead coming out of the charger (which is not shown in the pic) via an SAE connector:

Wspollick thanks for all the choices after seeing the plug, I think I found one that should work well. This would accommodate the air pump and give me an external USB for when I mount my phone on the brake tank. This other with readout is sort of nice since it shows 12 volt levels as well. I don't ever see having to jump the 12 volt battery since the bike charges it in background.

Thanks
