[Solved - With bike off I used t25 to remove 1 screw, take off trim, take off black battery cover. use 8mm wrench to tighten battery connections]
[30-Dec - Ended up changing Battery. Seems to me the loose Battery Connections tool their toll. Prevention - Tighten Battery Connections with wrench.]

2022 with about 5K miles

Bike was idle for a week. Rode it last night for 5 miles including highway. Rode it this morning 5 miles.
After work on start , I got a lot of alerts and do not proceed warnings. Reduced power. Finally, all essential circuits are off. About 6 different messages.

So it seems the 12v YTZ6V is dead. 3 years old so I imagine even if I trickle it and get out of this mess then it will bite the dust in 6 months. (why doesn't the fancy dash have a voltage for 12v batterry???)

I have resolved to buy and install a Yuasa brand YTZ6V.

Not interested in paying Dealership for BMW battery or service as I can do this myself.

Have I missed something about this bike.

You’re right. Change it now. It’ll die sooner than 6 months for sure. One week sitting is nothing. A healthy battery should be able to sit A LOT longer than that and still reliably start.

EDIT: Check that the battery cables are tight before you buy a new battery. Don’t ask me how I know that.!

My 2019 850gs is on its third battery (Yuasa) after two bmw agm. So 3 years is on the early side but is my typical experience.

Also it should be trickle charged by the main drive battery as long as it is above a certain charge.

Good point on the connections. I will check them. On the gs after some offtoad I got weird errors regarding suspension and that was lose battery. I always tighten with a tench not a screwdriver.

Bike is in underground garage and to get to an outlet I’d have to push up a ramp. Even if it charges it’s on its last legs. New battery was 65$ and for my time that’s a simple decision. Tow would be 50.

There is a t25 under front cover I’ll remind people of. The battery is on right side behind storage.

I’ll put a battery tail in it for next time (I believe at low charge you can’t use the socket) .

A week idle is nothing indeed.

Everything above assumes the battery is the issue. Hopefully I’m right and this 60 bucks is all I’m out.

Solved

T25 removes one screw
Side panel comes off super easy, no real resistance.
Little cover on batter that slides off easy.
Checked all Fuses
Brought in the voltmeter and it read 12.4 ( not dead but not 100%)
Bike Still throwing errors on screen with turtle as well.
Checked Pos cable with finger rotating it and it did not move.
Checked Neg cable and it moved/revolved easy => loose.
Left to buy a 8mm wrench as I brought a 10mm.
While gone I put it on level 2 chargepoint to charge drive battery from 80%.
Came back and turtle gone - must have picked up some trickle charge to 12v.
8mm wrench tightened both pos and neg.
Problem solved.
Rode home.

Will keep t25 and 8mm wrench in tool bag.

Reading up on this I read that that the main battery will charge 12v every second day.

I've been a victim of loose battery before but had forgotten. tip of the hat to George S for reminding me to check.
