I own a 2016 BMW C650 3480 miles on it.
It started to get a wrapping sound "which I thought was in the front of the motor" around 1500 rpm's and stops just under that when coming to a stop.
I took it to the dealer and they replaced a drive belt for a $900.00 +. Which didn't fix the problem. They agreed that it doesn't sound right but really can't find anything wrong.
The sound is like bad valves in a car or a bad timing chain. I'm just waiting for something to go seriously wrong.....
I love my Scooter, can anyone help or have this problem ?????

Just happened to my scooter same vintage
Was a timing chain tensioner ...
Sounds like mine..,
It went totally and bmw collected it and replaced it but couldn’t fix it..,
Ended up replacing whole engine long and new drive chain ...
More expensive than giving me a new bike ...
Goes like a rocket now...good luck iam
Sure they have had other problems and mine had light kms on it

Definitely sounds like the timing chain. Do you know if you have the hydraulic tensioner for the timing chain? If you do not have the hydraulic model the you should stop driving it immediately.
hopefully it is not that, but if your bmw dealer doesn’t work on scooters often, then they could be like my dealer here and have no idea what they are doing. Sorry they charged you for something you didn’t need.
