I have been having the same issue. Oddly enough it just started happening to me in the last month after months of trouble free riding. As you have stated, I have been religiously checking the level as per the manual and it has been right on. I plan on checking the level with a cold engine to see what the difference in readings is.

Thanks for the repllies, After posting I came across another thread on the subject where it became clear that these sensors are very often giving off wrong readings. I'll keep tinkering because I really don't like seeing warning lights, even to-be-ignored ones.

I have a C 650 GT Only once the oil sensor light came on n that was about 1 month after
i bought the bike. I put the bike up on the centerstand n took off one lil cover oh n the
floor mat. It was low n i got up to the full mark. NO overfilling since i work on my lawn
equipment i know how much to add. now i have 14.600 miles on it n have NOT checked
the oil level in about 1.5 yrs so far. Everytime the bike warms up enough the OK word
shows up. NEVER seen the oil senser light come on since. LUCKY on that part.

That's when i check the oil level it's cold not warm. I do that with my lawn equipment n it's
SPOT ON.

I can confirm after a good number and distance of rides that my intermittent warning light issue has been resolved. So it was caused by the fact that taking the measurements as per the instruction manual tell you the level is perfect when according to the sensor more has to be added. As reported I decided to just ignore the dipstick readings and kept adding in 50 ml increments until the warning light and message ceased to appear. According to the dipstick readings it's probably overfilled now.

Ok will check net time I can, in October (if my bike is still at LAX when I return then!). I am very curious myself. Although the owner's manual calls for taking the reading with a warm engine.

Just an FYI. I checked my engine cold and the level was at the minimum line of the dipstick. Quite a difference from the hot reading (as per manual) of the max line.
