BMW C650GT grips

Hi all,

New member from Australia here. Recently purchased a C650GT and I absolutely love the bike after selling my GS1200 and having previously owned vespa's (GTS300 and LX50), ridden many bikes and scooters.

My grips are pretty worn after 17000km. As I've got the heated grips I am wondering what your experience is with replacing grips or using something like Grip Buddies (which does not seem available here in Australia...)

Tips and tricks greatly appreciated.
 
I noticed also the grips tend to wear relatively quickly - but only in appearance, not functionality? Are yours worn through so quickly / don't function properly anymore? One option is to just get new ones from the dealer, or good used ones on Ebay etc.

Cees with a C is something I haven't seen yet! Nice to meet you DutchieintheUSofA. Yes they are pretty worn to the point where they're sticky and just uncomfortable. Still functional, just not great.
 
I've recently (2024) replaced the non throttle heated grip on my 2014 C600, and it wasn't that expensive. The heated throttle grip was more than double the price, but luckily that one wasn't worn out yet.
- After the refit, I just used the common foam grip (over)in-serts, that one wet in soapy water, and then slide over the grip. Just make sure to not get the cheapest one available.

So far, after more than a year of near daily use, the foam grips on both sides still last.
 
I got the rubbers from AliXpres and put them on. Awesome as I needed a larger diameter anyway. Also less vibrations for the longer grand tours.
