Brand New GT650 Oil Check!!!

Please someone helo me i just got my brand new gt650,, i ran it only 64miles/120km and this warn indcater start shown up in stops only, shows oil check,, if i give it little blib it goas away and sometimes coms agine if i stop in traffic,,, please is this normal or im hurting my engine??? Any help ill be much appreciated.
 
the oil check only shows up when you are stopped, when riding, it turns to the TPMS values for the tires. when the bike is warmed up, after a few miles, and you stop it may give a warning in the beginning, mine did. You can add a small amount, of oil, but keep in mind that this bike unlike others has a dry sump and the reading in on the sump itself. in the first 600vmiles, the oil in breaking in the engine and may stick to areas leaving less in the sump, thus giving the check oil.

When you get the warning, wait 20-30seconds if it doesn't switch to ok, try below:

just add oil to the sump until you read it on the dipstick at the level you want after you ride the engine a bit and you will be slightly over but ok. once the first service is complete it should work better.

One warning - until the bike has been ridden long enough to get the oil very hot (10 miles or more) you will not get an accurate dip stick reading - the mark will show low on oil when that is not the case.
 
When my Sport was new, the check oil indication went on at 100 miles. I found the oil level low when I manually checked it. I forget how much I had to put in, but, at the time I thought it was more then it should have used even as a new engine. Moral, check your oil manually.
 
I calld dealer they goin send me a mechanic guy tomorow morning to have the oil checkd up if that desent help they goin to take my scoot ;,( hope topping oil little bit helps..... anyways did i hurt my engine??? Can i still drive it ?
 
Mine did that nonsense when it was new.

As others have said, make sure to run it for several minutes so the oil is hot. Then, turn off, wait a few minutes and check the dipstick WITH THE BIKE UP ON THE CENTER STAND, not the side stand. Check with the dipstick pushed down firmly, but not screwed back in. If necessary, add full synthetic oil, 15W-50 until the oil level reaches the top of the marked area of the dipstick. All of this while the engine oil is hot.

Can't imagine you did any damage. It seems that the check oil indicator on the cluster is fussy in new bikes.

And as I've written before, and as Ronald Reagan said about the USSR, "Trust but verify". That means checking the oil dip stick a few minutes after a ride, once a week. And checking the tires with a tire gauge before riding, once a week. (remember that the air pressure on the instrument cluster ("RDC") is temperature compensated. Trust the gauges, but verify with the dipstick/air pressure gauge and your eyes. I also check the coolant once a week with the bike on the center stand. Find it best to put a flash light (torch in the UK) behind the reservoir, with the light facing back through the coolant reservoir towards you in order to be able to see the level.

The following link will take you to a Scooter Safe Riding booklet. At the end of the booklet is a suggested checklist to complete before each ride. I keep a copy in the trunk and try to perform it every time.

Low oil level is not nonsense. My indicator worked perfectly, the engine was low on oil, and the indicator showed that. The oil wasn't checked before delivery , that was the problem. It is an oil level problem not a indicator problem.

your handred percent right!! The mechanic from bmw just visit us. and we warmd the engine we check the dipstick it was below minamum level.

Please tell me i didnt hurt the engine becouse its way low oil;(!!
 
What else did they not do on the pre delivery inspection
Make them go over the scooter again (free)

I know someone that bought a dodge journey and when she drove down the road in 10km blew the transmission. The dealer told her that she dropped it in reverse while moving foreword at speed. They replaced the transmission under warranty after they found no transmission fluid in it (with no apology) and she was out of her vehicle for a week and a half (she got a loaner)

My opinion is; if your indicator didn't go on for the first 64 miles and you checked the oil then, you should be OK.
