Check High Beams

After 15 months with this bike, I pulled up behind a pickup where I could see my reflection pretty well. I don't know why it occurred to me, but I thought that would be a great time to check my high beams, which led me to discover only the left one comes on. So, since it's not something you might notice for a long time, I suggest checking them out. Thankfully, I already had an appointment for the brake servicing.

This may be by design. On my C650, the low beam and high beam are single bulbs, one left side and the other right side. Your owner's manual should provide clarity.

It’s kind of like your car: one low beam and one high beam for every two wheels.

I don’t know about logic — not my strong suit — but from my reading of assorted motorcycle forums for a couple of decades, it seems a fair number of models from assorted manufacturers do this sort of thing. Not unique to CE-04s, certainly.

On my CE04, the upper/outer lights are low beam and the lower/inner lights are high beam. I wonder if this is a US market vs everywhere else thing?

So this is my low beam. When I hit high beam the dark side comes on. Is this normal?

Here’s my UK bike:

Daytime running lights – along bottom of the ‘glass’. On as soon as you hit the power:



Low (dipped) beam – top outer lights, both sides, plus the running lights:



Main (high) beam – all of the above plus lower middle lights:

Thanks for your reply! My running lights in the bottom are fine. On low dipped beam only the 2 lamps on the left go on. When I hit high beam the 2 on the right go on as well. The dealership says they are set up this way in the USA and European version is like yours. IMHO the USA version is not as nice since it appears one of the lights is out.
