I completely agree with you re us being able to worry about turning them off - they certainly cancel too soon and yes, I realise that this is not only a BMW feature, don't worry - I could only speak for my bike of course. How do you enjoy your GT? Do you have a top-case on yours? The on-board storage is laughable compared to my old, missed and much loved Burgie 650!! Ride safe my friend.
I've owned two Execs: a 2007, from 2007 - 2012, and a 2008, from 2016 - 2022! My Big Burger gallery is here:
Much as I enjoyed those 650s -- and I did enjoy them, or I wouldn't have gone back for a second helping -- I don't miss them, with the C 400 GT in the garage.
I introduced myself here:
https://www.bmw-scooters.com/index.php?threads/new-c400gt-owner-albany-ny-area-may-2022.2460/ . That explains why I got the 400. Since then, I have really appreciated the 400 for:
- The handling. Best handling bike I've owned.
- The light weight. About 140lbs. less than an Exec.
- The smoothness. Not the smoothest bike I've ever owned, but surprisingly good, and certainly not objectionable.
- The quickness. Not the quickest bike I've ever owner, but surprisingly quick.
- I think it's a sharp-looking bike.
What I find objectionable:
- No TPMS option, and the stupid sideways placement of the Schrader valves prevents adding an external sensor to the front wheel (I have a FOBO sensor on the rear).
- No factory cruise. With throttle-by-wire and umpteen sensors, I would think it would be trivial to add cruise.
What I find disappointing:
- Limited underseat storage, as you mention, especially compared to the cavernous Big Burgers. Sure, the flex case is nice, but what if I want more storage when the bike is NOT parked?
- The stretch-out-yer-legs room is a little less than that of a Big Burger. Still, I pretty much got over that, most of the time.
- On the My Vehicle screen, I would like the image of the scoot removed and the tach included. The only way to see the RPMs is to use the Urban screen, with its very limited display.
- That I'm out of action for a few weeks, at least. See my post from a couple of days ago,
https://www.bmw-scooters.com/index.php?threads/c-400-gt-it-appears-that-i-have-a-coolant-leak.2722/
Still, if the bike were stolen or wrecked, I'd get another one!
My GT gallery -- farkles and such -- is here:
You can see there that I have the factory rack and top case. That's an expensive and small combination, but you can't take it with you. And, more importantly, as I noted in my introductory post, my wife liked the same backrest pad on the C 400 X we rented, so I couldn't mess with success. In my daring thought experiments, I am still considering getting the adjustable (and much larger) Shad top case, which seems to offer functional padding (as opposed to the useless POS of a pad that you can get with Givi top cases, for instance).
You might be interested in some of my ride highlight-reel videos -- before I was side-lined last week. I have some in this thread, for example:
I've posted a separate video or two before, but I thought maybe it would be better to start a single thread for videos. So I'll start with one I made during a goofing-off day yesterday on my '22 C 400 GT. I did a loop (clockwise), dropping in for a visit to some friends in Poland (that's the...

I think that covers your questions.
