Convince me already!

Go with the C650GT. You have all of the available under-seat storage all of the time (not just when it's parked) AND you get the nifty, infinitely adjustable windshield to boot!

But, Jaime, the underseat storage isn't that great ;). All was able to fit in there on one recent outing is:
Rain gear
Bike cover
3 extra under layers-top
Extra pants
Golf shoes (glove, tees, ball Mark repairer, 3 balls)
Umbrella
iPad
Extra charger
Hat
Extra gloves
Overnight stuff (just in case I am having "too much fun" at my destination)
Probably some other stuff I can't remember right now
......and I had room for more without even using the soft sided cooler I use to really grossly over pack.

NOTE: Once I added the Aeroflow, I really figured out how to best use the windshield adjustment and it is fantastic.

Steve, I packed almost everything I needed for my week long trip to Indianapolis under my seat this past summer. Only problem was the CPAP machine, which isn't "crushable" so it took up a LOT of space; I had to pack my laptop in my topcase (and I threw an extra jacket in there just to cushion it from any bumps in the road). I need to look into getting a smaller "Travel CPAP" next year.

Your Facebook page is a blast. Looks like you and Dennis had a great trip to Indy this past August. Is he on a Silverwing?

BTW....I sense a common theme throughout your galleries but I'll have to re-visit them to be sure;)

Well, now I need to know more about the 650 GT. Why is it "better" than the sport. I say that tongue in cheek. But it seems they are easier to come by. It just looks huge in pictures and I'm sure I want to deal with it. I don't want to fight with a bulky bike. Thanks for all the advice and help guys.
Sean

I wouldn't call the bike big compared to other motorcycles, but what people think of scooters yeah it is large.
The 650 gt acts like a sport bike compared to the so called scooter. But you have a lot of storage that most motorcycles don't have and wish they did also you can sit feet forward and stretch out, turn on the heated seat and grips and raise and lower the wind shield and cruse down the highway what more could you ask for other than some good weather to ride in

So I found a C600 sport, used with a few thousand miles. It also has what look like aftermarket LED lights on both sides of the forks down low. Any thoughts as to potential errors?

The differences boil down to electric windshield, different bars, and curb appeal. That's about it. I prefer my sport, when placed side by side I would choose the sport on aesthetics every time. GT has the electric screen, and full rear end. The bars on the sport are, for lack of a better term, sportier as the GT bars are set for more relaxed riding. I like the flex case, it works for me as I can very easily put 2 Schuberths down there without any issue. I don't think you'll go wrong either way, but for me, I like being unique with typically being the only sport out on the roads.

Well, Sean, there is also that reason why the "GT" is dropped off the C600 and it has nothing to do with touring...The GT actually stands for "Gentlemen's Transportation" and it is a well known fact that C600 guys are all pirates. ;)

If you like to ride with heated gear, the BMW scooters have very capable electrical systems, 588watts. That's a lot more then many much bigger bikes. Yes, probably due to the electric seat and grips, if you have all your heated gear on, you use the amps for that instead.

I use the lap apron so I'd say that a sport with skirt is more all weather than a GT without. I would like a wee taller screen, but everyone over about 5'10" complains about that equally.

Lap apron doesn't do anything about wind buffeting, which can get pretty tiresome after a few hundred miles on the superslab. THAT'S the "weather protection" I was referring to. For foul weather, I have my Aerostich gear.

You'd be surprised how well it does protect against buffering, up until about 80ish. After that the negative pressure associated with the increase in air speed around the bike becomes greater than the weight of the material can handle. The real buffeting I notice is windshield related. You should try one Jamie, if you have the chance, they are as vital to my cold and wet comfort as the heaters and windscreen are. I outfit both our daily bikes with them.

So, after 2 different offers on c600 sports, that were a day late, and a dollar short, I decided to drive 3 hours today to see if I liked the GT. Same dealer, asking $7500 used. If so, I would put the deposit down, do the financing with my credit union and have the bike shipped home, don't ask to long of an explanation. I must say, I was impressed. The GT isn't as bulky as I thought, though still not enough to make me commit. On my way to the BMW dealer, I stopped of to look at an Aprilia Mana (Mana 850 GT ABS | Naked Bike | Aprilia USA) I currenty ride and Aprilia Sportcity 250. To my surprise/pleasure, the Ape felt great and was as expected, very nice in person; compact, not too heavy, good ergonomics. It was well used but I just wanted to get a feel for the bike. I liked it. Anywho, on to the GT. The more I looked at it, the more impressed I was. After my 3 hour drive, over mountain passes; on highways in which 70 mph in the slow lane was holding up traffic; sudden rain showers and even fog! all in the same day; crazy CA weather. I knew, if I needed to do that on a bike, there is only one, the GT. But... I was left with the lingering thought of the Aprilia. On my 3 hour return trip, I had a goldilocks moment; que the angelic music. "If only the Aprilia was a scooter, and if only the GT was a little smaller" well, that bike does exist: the c600 sport. I'm not saying I won't make an offer on the GT, nor that I won't decide to go for the Aprilia. But, I believe the C600 pushes all the right buttons. The issue is finding one in California for a great price. I did talk to another out of town dealer while traveling and he gave me the price of just under $10k for a new one OTD with delivery. We'll see, not quite the steal I was hoping.
