I haven't finished watching this yet, but I thought I'd post this new video for those interested, so you can get right into it if you have time now:

 
Good review, thanks for posting. Didn't realize this bike has a reverse gear. I still need to sit on one to decide -- need to stretch my legs out fully, although I know there is a flat bench seat option that lets a 7-foot man stretch out fully. My main hurdle is still the 80-mile range.

Sidebar: in the comparison to "Tesla or Prius," I did not like hearing Prius described as a "budget-econobox." (full disclosure: I currently own my second Prius. Also, I view E. Musk as a giant a-hole). FWIW, a 2023 Prius starts at $27,450, which is hardly "budget-econobox" for most people.

To borrow from Crazy Eddie, those prices are insane. $48,861 for the average new car? Caveat emptor, I guess. I only buy when I find really good deals.

Two years ago, I bought a creampuff '11 Prius in beautiful Barcelona Red with 104,500 miles for $5,700 (bought it from an attorney who was eager to sell because he bought a Tesla). With 113,500 miles today, I could probably sell it for twice what I paid.

Last year, I bought a 2019 BMW C 650 GT with 7,126 miles for $7,000. Now at 11,500 miles, I could sell it for over $9k. That's $20k in vehicle value after I paid $13k. THAT is the way the math should work ;o).

Forgot to mention, based on an average sale price of $48,861, I guess I am driving a Japanese "budget-econobox." That's new to me.

For most of its decades-long life, the Prius was priced solidly between basic and luxury cars, not quite either. It was as unusual as its butt-ugly shape. I love them because you get a big car ride (I am a big person) with great mpg's; the latter appreciation dates back to high school when I had to ask my buddies for quarters to pay for gas to keep us cruising in my old, '64, 4-door green Chevy with a hole in the floor.

Today, it impresses me that my Prius beats my BMW C 650 GT in mpg's, 55 to 50. I love to drive them both, and that's what matters.

I would be OK with the 80 mile range since I have no plans on touring with a scoot at this stage of life. I'm not a fan of the design of this new scoot, it veers too much off what I think a scoot should look like. But that's just me. I would have bought one of the C-evolution bikes before I got the C650 except for one fact. The local dealer does not service electric bikes. If something goes south on one of these, it's not going to be fixed by the average owner. I can't believe that the new CE04 is going to be any different in this regard. For all the folks that are getting them, you don't have an issue since if they sell them, they have to service them. But I wonder how many dealers are going to bring them in if they dont think they will sell that many.
 
Just watched the vid. 45 to 50 actual miles before its out? Sorry, even my weekend rides can go over 50 miles. And then 9 hours to recharge? If I were still commuting to work and I could possibly plug it in, that might not make it. Since the CE was also rated at about 80 miles I guess it was good that I missed that one too.
 
I get 70 miles easily and don't even know how I'd get 45. Charging at home on 110 is "overnight" it wouldn't matter if it was 6 or 7 or 9 hours. 70 miles and overnight charging is called commuter, which this bike is targeted at. That said, AC level 2 charges at 1 minute a mile so 1 hour (while you eat lunch) if you're out all Saturday.

I appreciated how in the video the reviewer calls out motorcycle enthusiasts tendency to want every bike to be every thing (except profitable, apparently)
 
This is not fully baked yet for my taste. Design is fugly, range not there and probably no where to repair it other then the dealer who doesn’t have parts in stock. Hard pass especially at $14k

Newly acquired scoot - charged about three times now to 100% (UK 230v domestic socket) overnight so more than the recommended 4+hrs from 0-100%. On every charge with the mode left in Eco - I get a display of 68miles/100% charge- not the expected 80 mile range. Bike has 400mls on the clock so not brand new. It's quite a big drop in range if this is to be expected (thought I am only commuting 10 miles return each day). Any thoughts.
