Hi all,
I have a '20 C650 GT with 8,600 miles on it. I had purchased a few months ago a set of Dr. Pulley's 36-gram slider/rollers. I was told that for riding two up and both being on the heavier side, these would give me more mid and take off zip.
I had to pull off the right side anyway as it had been dropped, not skidded, on the right side. I bought a new right side lower running board for $300 and at that time purchased the belt everyone here is using, Mitsuboshi brand. I was also going to de-cat the converter, but since I'm going to be selling the scooter, I decided to just do the sliders, belt and new running board.
After a tear down and put back together I road tested the scooter and boy oh boy, it does chit and get quit well... BUT... it also does that at the cost of a couple thousand rpms at 65 mph. I pressed it a bit harder and got it up to just over 70 mph and it was WAY too many rpms for me. I decided to tear it all down again and put back in the perfectly good condition OEM rollers. After re-assembly, it road again just like before. When I compared the original belt with 8,600 miles it to the new belt, there was only .003" difference anywhere I measured the belts. Hardly enough wear to justify a new belt, but hey, it now has the new belt and a perfectly good spare to replace in another 15k miles.
Maybe a 3-gram or 4-gram light weight would have worked better, but as I'm selling it now, it's back to all original.
Anyone just scooting around town with a max speed of 60 to 65 mph for short bursts, these would be great. If anyone is interested in new Dr. Pulley 36-gram sliders, let me know...
