engine problem

I was offered extended warranty at 40% discount when I bought the c400gt, I declined it. Early this year I was quoted 2300 CAD for extended warranty for my s1000rr, I did not buy it and the s1000rr is now out of warranty 10,330kms on it MY2021.

But for c400gt before the 3 year warranty expires I will have to get it, I ride the scooter a lot going to work, dropping of my kid to school etc, its been real utility for me.

I will wait for the dealer to decide if mine needs an engine or whats happening with it. Its a nice scooter looks modern and sleek its worth keeping.

Update:
On my way to work this morning, it shutoff a few times and it wont start again. Calling roadside assistance now, glad I made it to work so did not have to wait on the roadside. Cranks but does not start.

Called BMW road side assistance and they sent a tow. It did not take 30 mins the tow was here and loaded up the scooter and its on its way to the dealer.

At this point it does not start, cranks healthy, its like not getting any fuel to start.
Fuel pump, TPS, injector or bad spark plug coil are all my guess.

That engine is going to fail.

Just a little humor!
It sounds pretty good to me but tough to judge completely on computer speakers. Though I love the bike, BMW sure could have made it a bit more refined in some areas. But, no such thing as a Cinderella bike unless you go custom build. I hope that all is well and the bike remains trouble free for you (and that this is not an issue).
Gosh. Just catching up here. I never thought my joke would turn out to be true. If that is your primary transportation, it must be a total pain in the ass.

This makes three or four engine problems on new-ish C 400 GTs. I know, a small sample size, given the community here on the forum, but it does not seem to be a great sign.

If I still have my C 400 GT in two years, it looks like I'll be buying the extended warranty from BMW before the initial one expires.
So I bought mine July 1st 2024, is got 870 miles on it. Today after a few weeks of my first service, it died on me, it started but when you hit the gas, it does not move. I am in shocked! Dealer is coming to pick it up later on today, my first experience with BMW is not looking good so far

my scooter is back on the road, I noticed after replacing the CKP sensor, the idle rpm now is 1400/1500, scooter used to shut off itself on the first start, now thats resolved. Its running perfect at this time.
hey man did they mention if this is a known issue for these scooters?

They did not say anything, they replaced the crank sensor and its running good now, has 11,600 kms on it. Mine is a 2023. Now thats its cold in the mornings it dies shortly after first start which they said is normal due to the ambient temperature change. Usually shutting off when 20⁰C and starting in the morning 4⁰C, I use the scooter for almost all my commute it has held up pretty good so far.

My 2019 400GT expired over the summer. For the second time it threw a variator or something. It had 12000 miles on the clock. I had an approved used warranty which ended about a week after this happened so I was very lucky. The dealer stripped the motor and declared the crankshaft was toast. They tried to fit a new one but it was beyond help so BMW approved a new motor. I am now running it in. The problem is this has shaken my faith in the make. I am not sure a lot of owners put a lot of miles on them - mine had about 3,000 when I bought it in 2023. But it is soo comfortable - I cannot see anything else that combines the comfort and power.

You sir, are a lucky man. I did not purchase a used warranty, and my scoot left me stranded on the side of the freeway. Even with that knowledge, Motorrad NA refused to assist with an engine repair at only 7400mi.

It was a fantastic bike when it ran.
