Has any one changed Hand Grips? I ruined mine and BMW only sells whole unit for the tune of about $245 too steep to just replace grips ...any help would be appreciated

You say you have ruined them? How are they ruined?
you can buy sleeves of foam or rubber that would slide over and cover the grip, this would take away the need to replace if just the rubber worn out.
Other than that im affraid you will need to replace but not a hard job to do.
