Has anyone had the bike cut off

13000 + miles had the first stall. Ran 2 tanks of fresh gas, it only got worse. In the shop we go and one week later found it had not had all the software upgrades done. I said I was not paying for something that should be a BMW fix. As it worked out I paid 1/2 hour labor for t/s. No more stall runs and idles a little faster but not enough to drag the clutch. I am happy will go on and wait for another problem.
 
I have a 2016 C 650 GT I bought new. Now it has only a little more than 1700 miles on the clock. Ever since I took delivery it has occasionally stalled; usually just as I stop or soon after. However, several times it has stalled while slowing to stop. The dealer thought it was corrected during the first service at 500 miles by replacing the O2 sensor and updating the software. There has been little or no improvement.

How frustrating ... Is it occurring shortly after a cold start? Are you routinely filling it at the same gas station?
I bought a 2016 new too. Issue is solved now after 3500 miles. But mine was cold-start / gas related.

Thanks for your input, Bornfree. I don't recall a stall during cold start warm-up and the problem seems to happen independent of fuel source or altitude. I live at about 4500 feet and, of course, have experienced most of the stalls near home. However I recently trailered the scooter to southern Arizona and rode it in the heat at low altitude; it stalled twice during two days riding.
 
This thread is making me consider buying locally or not buying at all . For the most expensive scooter made you would not expect it to stall at all , and if it did have a problem they should take care of it . That is not asking to much do you think ?
 
2014 1700 miles 650GT started stalling in March 2017 . No set pattern except usually stalled when running under 15 mph. When coming to a stop, the scooter shut off. A thread mentioned that the problem might be the kill switch, or heater button sticking. I remember running the hand grip heater in March. Went to the scooter, and pressed the kill switch and heater button on and off several times. Today, I rode with no stalling. 40 miles of slow speeds, stop signs, and turns. NO STALLS. Keeping my fingers crossed.
 
I took my C650GT back to the dealer and they had it over 20 days. When I got it back I thought, at first, that it was fixed but after about 350 more miles it started stalling again. I have reported this to the dealer but not taken it back to them.

Ok, here's a basic suggestion....Have you tired an octane booster additive? That worked for me on another bike. Simple. Cheap. Yah never know. If it were to work for a few tanks of gas, you might have the problem figured out.

When the bike was new it did cut out a few times even after BMW reprogramed the computer, I came to the conclusion that it was the gas I use Startron in all my bikes have not had any more cutting out also when I can I get corn free gas when I'm in the area where it is sold about 20 miles from me, I use premium gas in all of the bikes no problem since.

Thoughts anyone? Pinched line perhaps? Bad gas? (I only put premium in it). It's strange that it happens only in the morning after first starting it.

The same thing is happening with my 2017 GT. On cold, she runs like crap (No stalling) for a wee while then once warmed up it's not an issue.

I will mention this to the guys at BMW on my next service.

Running too lean (not enough fuel in fuel/air mixture) can cause cold stalling. This should all be controlled by the ECM based upon data it received from various sensors. Would need to study the specific feedback sensors that the BMW uses, but as an example, an engine/coolant temperature sensor is defective and it tells the ECM (computer) the engine is warm when it really is cold it might run too lean and cause stalling. Low fuel pressure, clogged air filter and faulty ignition can also cause stalling. The programming of the ECM can also be a problem as manufacturers can tweak this to correct problems and the programming is likely based upon the correct octane gasoline being used.

I'd also be sure to use quality gasoline, usually top tier gasoline is recommended by manufacturers like BMW. These fuels are consistent in additive packages and quality control. In reality there are only so many refineries in each area so most gasoline comes from these and must meet certain standards (at least in USA) but each brand has additive packages that make their fuel better and more consistent in quality. The off-brands just buy fuel at the lowest price and may use the least amount of additives required. Costco/Sam's/Ma&Pa Gas Station may be selling gasoline that was made by a Shell/Mobil/BP refinery but it is not the same fuel that the branded stations sell.

My 2016 C650GT is back at the dealer as it still occasionally stalls. I have 2365 miles on it. They are supposedly talking to BMW asking for ideas to correct the stalling problem. They have had it a few days again; no progress reported yet.
 
I sold my 2014 C600 last year and got the 2016 C650 Sport. Twice it stalled on me at low speed. Less than 5kph, while negotiating stop and go traffic. In both instances, engine had already warmed up (traveled at least 5kms). Never happened on the C600. I always carry Euro 5 compliant fuel. Something's not right.
 
I bought my C650GT 9-13-16. From the start it occasionally stalled, usually at idle, but sometimes as rolling to a stop. When in traffic it was a major safety issue as well as an annoyance. Starting with the first normal service the local dealer attempted to fix the problem and until 10-25-17 it was in and out of their service department about half as much as I had it. They tried everything they knew to try and asked BMW for help but without getting results. They finally contacted a dealer in California that suggested they replace the fuel pump and the throttle position sensor. They did those things and I have since ridden the scooter about 600 miles and she has not stalled once. I am vey happy about that but very disappointed in BMW. They did not help, in my opinion. The fix came from another dealer!
 
Just wanted to add to this thread, couple of times the I have noticed a hesitation when I try to accelerate with a cold engine. Second time it did that almost made me drop the bike (handlebar turned, leaning and sudden lost of power instead of acceleration when I gave it gas). I live on a major street so this is definitely scary. I idled the bike a couple of mins today while I put on my gloves, then took off and didn't seem to experience the same problem. Not sure if I want to test the cold theory again as it is quite scary when you bike does the opposite of what it is suppose to.

oh my bike is now 1900 km old when I got home today :)

My 2016 C650 Sport has about 1750 miles on it. It has stumbled on me probably 3 times. Two of those was when I was leaving my home. The other time was after I had driven it 2 miles. In all cases I was pulling out onto a street and making a left turn.

It is a disconcerting situation.

Or, buy a bike from a company that engineers their engines to run well all the time, even with an ethanol mix. 6 years and BMW says, "meh". Same with my brother's F800R. Horrible stalling problems from a standstill...running hyper-lean. Only the aftermarket made a fix for it....
 
My 2013 C-650GT recently went through a random stalling issues. It would stall under 1k rpm on low speeds and at traffic lights. I tried seafoam and replacing the air filter and that didn't solve the problem. I took it to Cross Country BMW at Hasbrouck Heights and after replicating the problem determined that the vacuum hoses was the issue. The Scooter is parked in a car port in Vermont and this past winter it was brutally cold. The hoses rotted from the cold according to the dealer. I'll find out if that fixes it when I pick up the scooter on Tuesday.
