So I am about to install the givi tipcase mounting bracket. The directions tell me to remove a small piece from below the grab handles. Not sure how to get it off. Any ideas?

Got them off, they are jyst simple tabs. Couldn't get the givi kit on though. The holes don't line up perfectly. In fact they are close enough that I messed up the threads on the passenger handle in one side. I may have to go with the BMW rack, then universal mounting from givi ( I have one).

I'm no redneck despite my appearance. I'm going to try to retap the threads, but still not 100% sure about the mounting plate.

Lol thnx. Got the bolts all cleaned up and will tap tomorrow. I am slightly worried the givi plate is not lining up. Even when just putting the main plate without all the bracelets, it does not seem to fit right.

Are you trying the brackets with the spacers and at the right angle? If you aren't sure about this, find someone experienced to help you.

Are the bracket holes tight? If so open them up with a round file or drill them with a larger bit.

Don't tighten the bolts until the whole thing is assembled.

Thanks for the advice. Yes on the spacers, the angle is the problem. With the one side in I can't get the right angle on the other. I am keeping everything as loose as possible.

I am going to retap the one tomorrow with the same size. I don't think it's too damaged. My father in law will be here Thanksgiving, he loves this stuff. If I have trouble tomorrow I will wait for him.

Do you have the givi braket?
Thanks for the help.

I installed the Givi on my 650 - your 600 may be different. On the 650, the Givi fits like a dream. You definitely want to keep all connections loose and then tighten the bolts equally "around the horn" to ease the mounting bracket into the perfect position.

I will get pics tomorrow. Everything is on correctly, in fact everythjng lines up perfectly except the part that goes on the passenger handle. I can get each side individually but not at the same time.

Finally! Everything is done. Thanks for the advice. Went for 100 miles after the install; half of the bolts came loose. Locktite tomorrow, my bottle was dried up.
