Anyone have the high windscreen for the CE-04? If so, how well does it work? I'm wondering because riding to work this morning at 61°F and 50mph felt pretty chilly.

Works well, I switched to the small screen just to test it out and it feels like I am holding on for dear life at 45+ mph. As you know the wind just hits you full on, I figure I can use it on hotter days. With the tall screen it feels like you can slip though the wind easier. Wind hits you at the neck, really could have been from the helmet and my watermellon head. With the short screen I did notice a loss in SoC /MPE (miles per electrons???) lol. Nothing measured scientifically

Thanks. I think I will order one. On my R1200RT I could ride when it was in the low 40's, but it had great wind protection. I would like to ride this scooter into the winter months when the road is dry, but I can't see doing it without a better windscreen than that tiny thing they put on.

Is there a vendor in the US that sells a slightly higher shield. I own a Honda NM4 which came with a tiny shield like the 04.
By adding a taller shield to push the air above my head it increased my mileage by 5-8 miles. I'm sure range would be increased on the 04 as well.

I purchased the BMW high windscreen for this scooter, but am not really happy with it. It's not high enough to accomplish what I want. I would probably look at the Puig or Wunderlich windscreens.

Ron thanks for the reply I'm looking at this one from Revzilla is it larger than yours. I can easily see maybe 5 miles more range to push that air over the rider, rather than flat on our chest like an air brake. LOL

I'm also looking at a passenger back rest to keep her on the bike. I found one by Shad any thoughts?

Thanks Mike

The BMW windscreen is 15" tall, Puig is nearly 22", and Wunderlich is 23.5"
As for Shad, i refuse to buy their products until they get rid of the monster size SHAD on their products. I hate that they make it look like I'm riding a SHAD bike instead of a BMW. I don't pay to advertise their damn brand. Regarding the backrest, I don't think it matters if your seat has the hump or not.

Just to give my $0.02: I‘be ridden with the high windscreen for 3300 miles and am so far happy with it.

I do like the look of the Puig better, but since my bike came with the high windscreen, I don’t need it enough to pay for it. I suspect there may be better efficiency with the Puig, but only barely enough to be noticeable.

For me at least, the high windscreen (along with Wunderlich handguards) keeps my helmet just ventilated enough to deal with the hot summer, and just shielded enough to stay out of the brunt of the wind during winter.

Thanks so much guys for the replies - I agree the Shad name is goofy looking. Regretfully while BMW did take into consideration that this is an electric bike and aerodynamics plays an important part, they did good in some areas yet others not so. The solid wheels and smaller diameter definitely helps. The same EV one using 18" wheels and the other 22" results in 28 less miles of range. All EV's are going away from spokes and using flat rim profiles like the 04 since that increases range. The 04 front end looks good to split the air around the bikes body and ours, however about mid ship they have this large protrusions have to be creating some turbulence. Anyhow overall they did a pretty good job. I'm enjoying the tech as much as I'm enjoying the ride.

Regretfully, BMW should have make a shield standard equipment. There has been hundreds of bike tests to prove that wind shield do work and increase efficency. There is nothing aerodynamic about frontal air hitting the rider flat in his chest.

I've owned a Honda NM4 bike since 2014 they only built them a few years. A special Honda group spent 4 years in design and aerodynamics which is why the bike gets a crazy 89 mpg. When you sit on the NM4 while in motion there is almost no air hitting the rider he sits inside a slipstream. If you move your hand anywhere a few inches from your body you can feel the air passing you. Of couse helping with the mileage is the fact it has a dual clutch tranmission. Anyhow I'll quit rambling lOL

Regards - Mike

Hello I have both the Puig Windscreen and the Shad back rest they are both fine the Puig is not the bigger screen on the market Givi and Wunderlich are taller.
For the Back rest I brought the Shad because I have a side bag from https://www.unitgarage.com/special_...i_side_pannier_in_tpu_left_subframe_bmw_ce_04
And they work great for the installation. For the screen and the back rest I've try to order them locally and in the United States and had no luck so I've order them from;
https://www.motoblouz.com/ in France fast delivery and they have specials right now.
Cheer!

- Scroll to the top of a thread.
- Click on the box in the upper right, just above the start of the text of the first post in a thread, that says "Watch."
- You'll then be presented with another box, in which you can check whether or not you want to receive an email when the thread is updated.

@Low On Cash - I ordered from Shad directly. They have decent sales once in a while, so I just waited for one of those. Shad provided great support.

I ended up buying their SH48 Top Case, which seems absurdly huge on the CE-04 but just barely fits helmet/gloves/jacket/pants/airbag vest for a passenger. It came with backrest pads, but comically they require you to drill into the case to install them. I tried using 3M VHB tape instead, but the backrest pads flew off on a highway :|

I’ve added Givi backrests to a couple of large Givi topcases (on Burgman 650s) and they, too, require drilling through the back.

From pics, the Shad backrests seem MUCH better thought out.

Hi, so I am new to this forum as have recently upgraded to the CE04 from the C400GT and it has come with the larger BMW screen. On my C400GT I have had the Wunderlich screen. My view on the higher CE)$ BMW screen is that they have missed a trick/cheaped out as the support bracket that holds the higher screen is not sturdy enough. It is made of cheap looking plastic and flexes in the wind, meaning the screen wobbles around. It is also not tall enough in my view (I am 6'1"), so doesn't move the game on enough for me, and am tempted to change to the Wunderlich screen that, while pricey, I know will be well made and sturdy.

Prior to the C400GT, I had a C600 Sport and then the C650 Sport, and on those I had an Ermax screen that was also very good.

Hope that helps

Hey anyone know of a US dealer that sells the Shad back rest? Thanks in advance!
Hi I've try to order from them for the back rest in April and They toll me they were Back order and I've waited until May I've wrote to them and didn't get any answer they were BO on the the steel bracket not the back rest, I finally order in France and cancelled my order and them they answer me...
So maybe you will have a better luck them me.
Have a good summer!
Yves
