How is the C400 on the highway ? RPM at 60-65 mph

Hello. I have a Yamaha YP 400 Majesty scooter .I like it a lot and do long drives w/a lot of freeway ( 65-75) MPH. I have been reading a lot about the C-650 gt. But I am curious about the BMW 400. I’m leaning towards the bigger Beemer scooter, but it sure is nice moving a lighter(400) machine around in the garage or parking lot . Any feedback appreciated.
 
No issues at all on the freeway at 65-75. The CVT moves through its gears up until 75mph (RPMs stay near peak torque) once you cross 75mph the CVT is at its max gear and you need to start using RPMs to go faster. Even cursing at 80mph isnt an issue for the scooter, it more the wind coming at you at those speeds isn't that comfortable, it could really use a larger windscreen for highway travel.

I'm 6 foot 210lbs and there is plenty of power to get up to 85mph easily, after that acceleration drops off quickly but I have been up at 95 so far and there wasnt much left.

I used to have a C600 Sport and there is certainly better wind protection at highway speeds, but it is also 100lbs heavier and not the greatest for city/around town stuff.
If you mainly ride on the highway the larger scooter will better for sure. The C400 is a good compromise as it's light enough for daily around town stuff. Yes it's fine on the highway but it's certainly not it's sweet spot.

Unfortunately my C400X had a non functional scroll wheel when I picked it up, so I have never seen the rev counter or have been able to get to it. Dealer is still awaiting parts to fix it.

However, 75mph is right when rpm's start to need to climb, so you should be at about 6500 rpms at 75mph. I will certainly check when I get my Scoot fixed properly...
I would have no issues driving at 70-75 mph for hours on end, the bike does not feel like its working very hard at all until you get up around 85mph.
 
I've been enjoying a Majesty for a few months now, and it's highly versatile. I've sat on the C400 while awaiting service work, and I don't find it anywhere near as roomy nor comfortable as the Yamaha. YMMV
 
Just an FYI. Since most of my riding is at Hwy speeds ( even our FM roads are 70-75 mph), when I changed my rollers ( to Dr Pully sliders), I set them on a piece of wax paper and filled them about 1/4 full w/epoxy. Then I ground them out w/Dremel Moto tool to exactly 16.56 gram weight. ( checked w/my gun powder electronic scale). The heavier weight makes take off a little slower. But higher speeds at lower RPM. 70 mph = 5400-5600 rpm. This can be done on the BMW as well.
 
If I remember correctly, a CVT transmission does NOT have any "gears". Just a belt.
 
You are absolutely correct......no gears.

I have taking my C400GT up to 135kph or 85mph with no issues. The engine is definitely revving up near the top.

i also put heavier weights in my C400x.
stock is 15 grams and mine are now 16 grams.
take-off is somewhat less 'sporty' but at least the rpms match the speed now.
i would not go back to stock, it always felt like it was revving too high for the speed i was doing.
