After proving that a 330mi/530km day trip is doable on the CE-04, I've booked a multi-day trip that begins 10 days from now, focused on sites important to Native American archeology:

My longest day will be 250 miles/400km, as I have many places to tour through:

- Town Creek Indian Mound
- Hardaway Site
- Charlotte
- Lake Lure
- Chimney Rock
- Little Switzerland
- Catawba Meadows
- Joara Site
- Trading Ford
- Sapona Town Site
- Kewaunee Site

I did a dry-run test today with the bike packed up the same way as I would for the trip and ended up with an estimated 56.3 miles of range - less than the 61.2 miles I get on average on these roads. The plan is to skip the top case and go with a side bag only, but that means omitting an extension cord. I do have a small bicycle handlebar bag that I keep handy for a first-aid kit, tire pump & patch kit, and camera.

For trip planning, I'm using:

- abetterrouteplanner.com to define the rough route
- plugshare.com for ground intelligence of reliable charger locations & places to stay near them
- the BMW Connected app for navigation, typically in medium Windy mode.

My ABRP settings for accurate guestimation of charging requirements:

- Zero SDS ZF 7.2 + PT
- 190 Wh @ 65 mph
- Quickest Arrival
- 35lbs extra weight (aux battery, J1772 cable, adapters, clothes, laptop, camera, etc)

Now, before I go on this adventure, I'm going to need to replace that front tire ...

Dude your writing the CE 04 book with your travels sounds exciting. I’ve been to many of those stops I used to live close to there. When you’re in Statesville detour to Lake Norman there’s a loop around the lake for a nice ride. Keep us posted what’s wrong with your front tire.

@Low On Cash - thanks! Nothing wrong with the front tire other than it getting close to the wear bars. I had originally planned a 7-day 1000mi trip, which would have seen me going well past a safe tread level. I can still eke by with this revised 3-day plan.
