Just changed belt, rollers and air filter, but all in good shape

Adding my troubles to this thread, only for others to consider (not as truth, just as my experience). I let the bike get to 23,000km before I dutifully procured the (obscure medievil) tools and parts and attempted to replace the belt. The exisiting belt showed zero signs of wear or tolerance shrinkage, and no dust or debris in the case. Anyway, long story short, I pushed ahead, seeking reliability and I had a lot of trouble getting the new belt in (seating the belt was more challenging than the videos portrayed) and I was forced to take it to the dealer to finish it off (yes, I know). The dealer, who really knows his stuff I have to say, told me they almost never bother with replacing the belt, as they tend to see out 150,000kms and tend to vibrate obviously when they finally need it. His wordsm not mine. So - dummy I am - I then paid the dealer to put the old one back in! It runs better than before (maybe it was new roller grease) and now I await the Beach Boys lesser known b side, "Bad Vibrations).

Interesting. Like you, when I changed my belt at around 15K miles last year, I found almost 0 wear on the old one. It was in such good shape I could not get myself to throw it in the trash. So now I have two spares: the original one with 15K miles and another new one. Maybe I will offer the new one for sale because:
(1) I now commute on a grandiose BMW 2013 K1600 GTL with 25K miles on it, rather than the 650 Sport, so mileage on the scoot climbs much less quickly these days, and
(2) I am 65. At this rate, my new and used spare belts will outlive me!

Anyone interested in a brand new Mitsuboshi belt?

I would hold onto that belt n keep it INSIDE your home. cuz the HEAT
outside in the garage will make the NEW belt ROT n go out of shape. see i have
bought a Mitsubishi belt about 2yrs. ago n kept in house not shed or garage,
I still have the OEM belt n the bike after 16.700 miles.

The belts do wear and will show no flaws. I measured a belt with the vernier calipers so throw the old belt out. You will notice a small flat on the sides about 2mm this gets smaller as time wears on and will destroy your variators

If you bend the belt in the other direction (inside out) you will see the cracks, they indicate the wear. But yes it is a tough one, I do not know if it will break before the double run (40000km); I have had a belt break down in my Kymco Downtown 300i on the highway when I overtook some cars at over 100Kmh, it was not nice. A lot of hot black schmuck inside the variator case to clean up, the shaft bearing to replace since it revved up like crazy with the the load suddenly removed, the wobbly stopping safely on the emergency strip that I had to do at speed and on "neutral" without engine brake. All was fine and done and I was lucky it was close to home and I had road assistance. Was I touring away, this could have been a massive spoiler.
But yeah, please tell us what belts do last twice their replacement run. I have Malossi X-K and I suspect they could.
