Greetings all.

I bought my 2014 C650 a week ago. The manual has been stamped for the 600 miles checkup. The next service being recommended for Dec 2014 or 6,000 miles. My scooter only has 3,700 miles on it. I take it the original owner is like me and does not drive much. I drive 3 miles to work.

Would it be fine to continue driving it until I reach 6k miles or just do a simple oil/filter change soon. I can't see oil going bad with the limited use..... am I wrong?

Thanks for any advice.

Cheers!

the 6,000 mile service is basically an oil & filter change anyway so really it is up to you. other checks are tyre pressures, coolant level, brake fluid level (which is changed anyway at 1 year) and check drive chain sag and cover bolt tightness. i rode mine for a complete year and carried out it's 6,000 and annual at 5,000 miles and the oil was fine, just dirty. only other thing is the service re-set and read codes.
hope this helps.

Well, you guys won't like to hear this, but, short commutes can be bad for your engine, and require a shorter oil change interval. I was taught this in automotive trade school about fifty years ago. Why, because you don't get all the moisture out of the oil, which can cause sludge.
Sure "Quietflightt" lives in florida where it is hotter, but, there is also a lot more humidity in the air. 3 miles is not a lot in the vain of engine warm up!! I would certainly change my oil more frequently. I have attached an interesting article link from Car and Driver.
