Malossi clutch and variator

Has anyone here upgraded your c400x or GT to malossi variator/belt and clutch? Like to know the improvement over the stock in terms or performance in stop-go-traffic and cruising at highway speeds.

My 2023 has 22,370 kms on it now, am due for belt change so am thinking to change to the malossi kit incl their belt, variator, clutch and bell.

Am out of factory warranty, so am thinking its time to do the upgrade now.

Whats the bmw part # for the roller pin? Thanks

the part number for the roll pin is 11118404849. this is a genuine BMW motorrad part the same as new when fiited at the factory.

so ive just installed the malossi variator kit along with racing clutch springs and a malossi kevalar belt, and i can say its made a huge difference in responsiveness and feel of the bike. i used the the medium (blue) clutch springs and now my bike revs a little more when i pull off and mid range power is much faster, after 25mph the bike pulls so strong it feels like i got a few more BHP now. i l already had a akrapovic muffler installed and now with the variator kit sounds much nicer and beefy. the bike now idles at 1.7-1.8 RMP from cold start, used to idle around 1.4-1.5 RPM. im very happy with the performance upgrade so much so that i will order the malossi clutch and bell maxi fly system to get the full benefits of all the malossi racing parts. only down side is that it could wear the engine lifes span if ridden excessive.

I considered the same upgrade when my CVT belt needed to be replaced but decided against it simply because the comments were the opposite of what you posted.

I’ll definitely keep in the back of my mind and may reconsider in the future

After going back and forth I just ordered the bmw cvt belt and rollers as I use my scooter for daily commute I needed reliablity over performance.

your gonna be happey with your decision. your bike with the new belt and roller will give you back some lost BHP.

Finally had the time last evening to replace the belt, roller weights and cleanup the cvt housing, used 3 cans of MAF sensor cleaner aka good brake clean. Torqued eveything to spec, the quiet idle is back again and feels like new after 23,800 kms. Cleaned the cvt filter and replaced the engine air filter as well. The roller weights has a flat spot on them just normal wear, belt looked good ok.

will be replacing the spark plug and throttle body hose clamps this weekend.

spark plug is buried inside looks like I have to remove the under seat storage tray to gain access.

1) I don't do my own maintenance -- I'm pretty old and creaky, and so confine my activities to electrical farkles -- but I just looked at the shop manual, and, as you opined, it states that the big underseat washtub needs to be removed:

If you've never removed that washtub -- or even if you have -- be careful of its back end when actually taking it out or putting it in. As I state in the captions of this image and the next one in my gallery ...

... the first time I did this removal myself I broke the switch affixed to the back of the tub. (I replaced the switch, and later on BMW replaced my '22 with a '23 C 400 GT, so I guess all's well that ends well.)

1) I don't do my own maintenance -- I'm pretty old and creaky, and so confine my activities to electrical farkles -- but I just looked at the shop manual, and, as you opined, it states that the big underseat washtub needs to be removed:

Thank you, am going to be aware of breaking that switch thanks for the heads up. Better safe than sorry.

Wonder if anyone has changed their fork oil and how hard that is, bmw 20k service calls for fork oil change as well.

Removed the under seat tray and replaced the spark plug, 2 screws T30 holding the ignition coil was difficult to get at with all the hoses in the way, managed to do it regardless of the difficult location.

under seat tray was way easier than I thought, one connector at the back thats it, light on 2023 is located under the seat.
