More C600 windscreen choices than just GIVI...

Just want to add that with a passenger, the wind dynamics are much different. With my wife, the highest setting actually is not as loud and no real wind buffeting to speak of. On the middle setting with a passenger my helmet buffeting was significant; my head was being pushed around as was my wife's.

Highest: I really like the protection from the wind but man, it's loud.

Personally, I adjust to reduce wind noise, and the faster I go the higher I set the windshield. And, BTW, Sean, you have shown you ain't to chicken to try anything.

For what it's worth for others new to all this (not greyhound), wind noise COULD be related to your helmet, venting, etc.
 
I wonder if anyone has tried putting the GIVI Airflow mounts and sliding windscreen on their stock BMW screen? People have done it with other stock screens and seem to get the same benefits as an entire Airflow system...

I use a smaller type from ermax or mca i cant remembr. Id check but im 35000 ft heading south to chihuahua mexico.
It is adjustable, i set it slightly above and in front on my stock wind screen (middle position) and it cuts the wind well for me up to 85mph.
 
I got to thinking the other day while riding: I think the lowest position provides the quietest ride for me but the angle of the windscreen is way to sloped and the wind just blasts me in the chest/head. The highest position offers great protection but too loud; but it's also at a different angle when it's at the highest position, almost like a shield. Well, what if I found a shorter windscreen that when put in the highest position offered the "shield" type of protection but not so high. So hear is my possible solution:

The difference in height is 4" from highest to lowest position, so find a windscreen that is 4 inches lower in overall height. My research leads me to this: 4 inches is 10cm or 100mm.

C600 sport OEM windscreen is 24 inches or 610 mm high according to my measurements, information on the internet says it's more like 650mm.

Wunderlich sport windscreen is 425 mm high.
Malossi windscreen is 400 mm high.
Earmax Aeromax is 510 mm.
Earmax sport screen 410 mm.
Puig Vtech sport screen says it is 610mm or 50mm shorter. (Their website has been updated with this information.)

I have emailed Puig to get clarification. I have a Puig for my Aprilia and it is well made but like many windscreens it creates terrible wind noise.

Received this email from Puig this morning:
For the BMW C600 SPORT we have two options:
- Touring version: part#6785 – 70mm higher than OEM
- Sport version: part# 6031 – 50mm lower than OEM.

We will update our site shortly as 110mm is a mistake.

Was looking at different brands and found that GIVI has three sizes and they come with nifty hand guards too. But am pretty happy with the stock one. I'm only 5' 11" and usually have it down about 2"s to see over the top.

Anyone else experience that when you drive 120km/h or over and it is windy GIVI Touring windshield vibrate and shake a lot?

Do you found any better windshield for C600 ?

When I looking C650 GT there is much better windshield stand than C600...Any other choices that you can really recomment??
 
I'm 6 foot tall.

With the stock windshield on the c600, I get some massive buffeting in the highest position when getting up to about 70mph or so. So much buffeting that it actually makes it hard to ride. My helmet is getting knocked around like I'm sparring with Floyd Mayweather. I find the middle setting the best compromise as I get no helmet buffeting even at speeds in excess of 90mph (simulated speed of course ;)). However, I find the wind is hitting me right on the shoulders and upper chest and does seem to wear me out. The lowest setting puts way too much wind on my chest. No buffeting, but I feel like I'm going to get blown off the bike at 75mph plus.

I bought a taller Ermax, but have not ridden with it enough to have an opinion.
 
One thing to think about if you tour or do long trips on your scooter is that tinted windshields can be a problem in poor light conditions. On a dark rainy day they don't add anything other than eyestrain. I prefer to use a clear screen and either wear polarized glasses or a helmet with a drop down dark shield. The same thing goes for a tall screen that you can't look over without strain. I've ridden in rain conditions that would have been very difficult if I had to look through the windshield. Lots of rain, much thrown by trucks, sleet, all of those can be a problem if you can't easily see over the windshield. My wet weather gloves have thumbs with a rubber strip that does a good job of wiping my face shield in rain. On my Goldwing I used to stand on the pegs to get the whole wind blast on my face shield to get rid of water and fog.
 
Well, it sounds like the best option for controlling wind noise/buffeting is a wind deflector. I may just do a double switch; shorter windscreen such as malossi and add a wunderlich deflector. I will probably order the deflector here pretty soon. Here is my thinking: take a malossi screen; 41cm tall + the wind deflector of 8cm and that will be about 10cm or so shorter than stock but also allows for infinite adjustment and hopefully out of the line of sight. I will probably start with just the deflector and buy a new windscreen later. Not the cheapest, nor the most attractive but I think it will work. For the record I don't really like the look of the wind deflector.

For the record, I have come to appreciate the taller windscreen that comes with the scooter. These short screens aren't ideal for longer, high speed trips, I know.

In all honesty I am comfortable with the stock screen. I am considering ordering an airflow because my wife complains of buffeting on her face/helmet at speeds of 70 km plus and won't ride for longer than 45-60 mins without a break.

I purchased the airflow and do not like it at all. I called the company and got little to no help or advise. I read on this forum some folks had issues also. Just a heads up.
 
The airflow screen has been sitting in its box in my garage for awhile now. One of the screws on the screen mount has a damaged thread and cannot be removed. The dealer has ordered a new mount for the screen and hopefully we can instal the airflow next week. We are planning a trip later in September so I will reserve judgement on the airflow for after that.

It seems some people are having issues with the bolts/threads and others are not. It also seems that some of the aftermarket windscreen holes aren't lining up either. Makes me a little nervous to switch out mine.

I love the CalSci. It gives me wind when down and is shields all wind and noise 100% when up. I've had it a year with no complaints.
 
That's good to hear TwoPort. I wonder if it's the C600 sport that has issues. I read that the puig and malossi are the ones having trouble. That being said, they are shorter and sportier so not an issue of you are looking for protection.

I am still interested in a shorter screen for warm weather and a higher screen such as the wunderlich for cooler weather and travels.
