Motoscan app and service indicator

Hi, all,

Thought I'd mention my experiences with the Motoscan app to reset the service indicator on my 2013 C650GT.

There aren't any BMW dealers in the town where I live so it would be at least a half day wasted, not to mention an eye-watering amount of money just to get BMW to reset the service indicator. I did look at the GS-911, but that's a silly amount of money, so I looked around for other possibilities. A few people on here had mentioned the Motoscan app, but nobody had posted any personal experiences with it so I was a bit wary, but eventually decided to give it a go.

I already had a cheap ELM-327 OBDII / bluetooth dongle that I'd bought for a job on my wife's car, and I found a chinese adapter cable on eBay for about £12. After checking that I could connect to the ECU with the Lite version of the app, I bought the pro version for about £23. I successfully reset the next service due date and the next service mileage, and after switching the ignition off and on, the indicator had gone out.

The whole thing took no more that a few minutes. Result!

The main issue is connecting to the bike. You need the adapter cable since standard ODB2 readers generally only have car-style trapeziodal connectors. The bike has that odd BMW-special round connector.

No response from the group so I will answer my own question after interacting with the MotoScan designer online. If one wants to do things like activate the ABS pump for a brake flush and learn new TPMS sensors, the Ultimate version is required.

je viens de faire l'entretient des 10000kms sans aucun problème et j'ai décidé de faire la remise à zéro de l'indicateur de maintenance (service)
J'ai donc installé l'application Motoscan sur mon téléphone et j'ai acheté le lecteur OBD recommandé pour cette application la réf Unicarscan UCSI-2100 sur Amazon.
après le démontage du panneau droit ,j'ai racordé mon OBD à la prise diagnostic , la led power c'est allumé confirmant la mise sous tension du module OBD. j'ai associé mon tel en bluetooth à un lecteur OBD
mais........................l'appli ne le trouve pas comme aucun autre module OBD (j'en ai 2 autres de marques différentes)
je ne sais pas quoi penser , le problème viendrai de mon scooter ?
j'ai constaté que sur la prise du scooter il n'y avait que 2 broches connectées
j'attend vos subjestions
 
Mon application Motoscan semble souvent ne pas vouloir se connecter au lecteur OBD, mais lorsque j'ignore cela et que je commence quand même à utiliser Motoscan, en sélectionnant l'un des menus, elle se connecte soudainement et fonctionne correctement.
Il est essentiel de sélectionner le bon modèle de vélo (K quelque chose) sinon il ne pourra pas communiquer avec l'ECU.

My Motoscan app frequently appears to not want to connect to the OBD reader, however when I ignore that and start using Motoscan anyway, by selecting one of the menus, then it suddenly just connects and works fine.
It is critical to select the correct bike model (K something) or it won't be able to communicate to the ECU.

J'ai refait une tentative ce matin (le plus long c'est le démontage du flanc droit !!!) et je me suis rendu compte qu'il falait sélectionner le modèle OBD dans les paramètres , en l'occurrence pour moi le UCSI -2100.
Et la magie de l'électronique ca fonctionne :MDR::MDR:
J'ai fait ma remise à zéro de la maintenance, et scanné tout les modules sans trouvé un seul défaut.
Résultat entre l'achat de l'OBD ,la licence Motoscan, l'huile et le filtre à huile je reste bien en dessous du tarif demandé par le Garage BMW près de chez moi à Marseille.
PS: Desolé pour toi apres le 1er match de foot France ....USA 😇😜

Hi Ceesie,
Your suggestion worked well, I used my motoscan and obdlink mx+ last year and it connected well, this year it did not connect at all, I asked Wladimir and he was saying I had to enable permissions in the app which I did but still could not connect, finally I remembered reading your post and just skip the connection/adapter check part on Motoscan and went straight in to the menu and click on instrument cluster and it got connected to the controller straight away
