New Honda Scooter?

Actually, I LIKE the Victory Vision. If I found the rear saddlebags at all useful, I'd have one now. Unfortunately, although they LOOK like the biggest saddlebags in the world, when you open them you're surprised at how TINY the compartment really is. DUMBEST design I've ever seen. Too bad, because the bike is VERY comfortable for both rider AND passenger, and it handles surprisingly well for such a large, long and heavy bike. Oh well... it's not like I'm eager to replace the K1200LT any way.
 
Finally got to see it in person today. It is a head turner (for the wrong reasons for some). When I first heard about it, shortly after getting my BMW this spring, I thought about trading in the 650GT. But now it's way too late. The Honda has

NO storage
NO heated grip/seat
NO effective windscreen
Not as much leg room

But it IS VERY pretty. I would get in addition to, but not to replace the BMW. but that is going to take a lot of negotiation.
 
Honda has been taking an odd direction in styling, at least to my taste. I haven't liked the new Goldwing since 2012 when they did the 'Victory Vision emulation". Then came the F6b which looks plain ugly to me followed by the '14 Valk. Almost as bad as the Honda Ruin. That Vultus or NM-4 or whatever they call it isn't very appealing to me. I was a bit disappointed because I've always been a fan of Honda for their bulletproof bikes but don't like they way their styling is heading. I really hoped they'd come out with a light touring bike based on the new 700cc engine with an optional DCT set up.
Oh well, it doesn't matter to me much now, with the K bike and the GT I'm set up just fine.
 
I think the last Honda I liked was the ORIGINAL VF750 Interceptor way back in the early 80s, though their new CB1100 looks nice to me too. Other than that, Hondas have never done anything for me. I've always been a Yamaha man (though now I own exclusively BMW).
 
It's a tough business with lots of competition. Narrowing down choices is a challenge. I fall too easily for the next pretty face.....which is not always the youngest gal on the block.
 
I certainly know about that dilemma. Last Sunday I sold my '94 LT. I loved its red color and it was also the first K bike I'd ever ridden. But I had to make a choice. I had two LTs, the great looking Red '94 and the fine looking Green '95. My garage just wasn't big enough for my wife's car, my Jeep TJ the 650GT and two K1100LTs. One had to go. I kept the green one since it only had 11,000 miles on it compared to the other bike which had 73,000. The '95 looked like it had just come off the showroom floor. I reluctantly put it up on CL and soon had a buyer. When he rode it up and down the street in front of my house and I heard it from a slight distance, that beautiful, smooth purr, I almost canceled the sale then and there. Unfortunately I came to my senses and ended up selling it to the young fellow. For my full asking price. I was sad to see it leave but I still have two fine bikes in the garage. Eventually the pain will subside, but it was hard to part with that first brick. I think I'll keep it in my avatar though. It looks good beside the GT. The matching colors, you know.

Sounds like Honda's engineers copied the engineers at Victory who designed the saddlebags for the Vision! From what read, if you're really sold on a Honda scooter, get a Silverwing and avoid this thing unless you want to be the center of attention wherever you go.

I'd find a rider of that thing to ride with, like when I find a friend bigger than me (not too many) and it makes me look good. I try not to have friends skinnier than me.......why don't I have any friends???
a standard scooter is not looking so bad next to that bat-eared DN-01.

Just read that review (thanks for posting the link). After seeing it last week, I can't argue with the talking points; especially the disappointing storage. I've always liked my unique 4-wheel rides, and the 650GT almost always gets me into a Q&A session at some gas station, parking lot etc. every ride. (What is that? How fast does it go? OMG, look at that trunk space. BMW makes scooters???). So the unique/head-turning aspect of the NM4 is appealing. As well as the DCT. I'll think about it and read more reviews over the winter, but maybe the BMW should have a friend in its garage bay next year.
