I was trying to sell the bike and one smart potential buyer took a picture under the bike!!! Yikes!!! Lots of oil on the case. That night I went home an cleaned the entire case and muffler under the bike. I started with break cleaner and finished with purple degreaser and simple green. The next day, today, I took a couple hour drive including a high speed run on the freeway. When I came home and checked again there was oil on the case again that seemed to be coming from the front filter area. Is leaking common for the this bike? Where are the most common leak points? All three drain plugs are good. Hope it's just the filter or something simple.

Sounds like it may be the filter not sealing against the block. I've not noticed any oil/oily grime down there but admit I don't look there very often. Will take a peek next time I'm with the bike. Don't recall other reports of oil leaks on this forum either.

guess I'll pull the plastics on the opposite side of the oil filler seems to be coming from that side. Hopefully its not a problem with the engine casing...

Hello, I'm sorry for the late reply.
I'm new to your forum.

You may have a loss of oil at the passage of the alternator controler cable. This is quite common on this engine due to a faulty original application of dow corning paste on the cable passage joint. See attached file to locate view (cable n°3).
