oil level ck problem

2016 BMW 650GT- After warming up the scooter and let it cool down 5-10 minutes, when I unscrew the dipstick cap, oil wants to flow out alot. Is this too much oil in it or another problem? Bought used and haven't ridden maybe 300 miles. Anyone else have this problem? Hard to ck oil level with oil running out where it needs to go in.

Sounds like you are following the owner's manual procedure. If so, then your engine has way too much oil in it and you need to remove some. Too much oil can damage an engine, just like too little can. I use a turkey baster / syringe to take out excess oil.

Thanks. I'm hoping that's all it is. Wish it was easier to measure, like a car. It's very deceiving when I first got it and it was cold and the dipstick showed low oil level but I didn't add any since I read the proper way to measure. Guess original owner wanted to make sure for the test drive that it had enough oil.
