Oil light??

So this morning, I had a wonderful 270 mile trip through the Sierras. Great views of both Mt. Shasta and Mt. Lassen! The bike performed flawlessly. I got to watch the speed though, it's way too easy to go fast on this bike. Seems very happy crusing at 75 mph! Only saw one CHP. Anyway, I am on my way home, 5 miles left to go and stopped at a stoplight. The bike is on an upslope, waiting for a green light. The warning light flashes momentarily on the display and then says oil. As soon as I take off at the green light, that all disappears. So was this just due to the momentary time the bike was on an upslope? I got home and all was well. Oh yeah, note to self, be careful parking with the kickstand on gravel on a slope! This bike had some heft!!

I've had that happen a few times and just added a little (1/8-1/4 quart) and all is good.

There appears to be a software glitch with the oil warning. It comes on randomly at idle speed. There is an update for it so I recommend speaking to your dealer. My 2015 GT gave me the false warning a couple of times but it's been sorted.

A slope will do it.
BTW, adding extra oil to solve this problem could cause more problems. Don't go over the mark on the dipstick. To much oil can cause foaming and a loss of oil pressure.

Adding a little oil stopped that oil indicator from showing up.

Absolutely agreed! I was suggesting (albeit not very clearly) that the level can be at the lower-end of the dipstick (yet above the "low" mark) and can create the alert. It's always a good idea to check the level (making sure to use the right procedure!) before adding oil.
