Does this interfere with a Passenger's comfort & for them getting in & off the bike? My Girlfriend has MS & the height of the 650 is a challenge already - Thank you

I can say two things with certainty.

1. The backrest makes mounting the bike (for a passenger) much easier. It provides leverage and a focal point for balance while you're boarding and getting off. The wide, flat passenger footboards (not footpegs) are a huge plus for mounting and dismounting -- and riding.

2. That said, it takes a bit of dexterity to slide your body between the backrest and the top case you seem likely to have. That's true for getting on and off. It's definitely easier without a topcase there (pro tip: takes 3 seconds to remove the top case for boarding). Once aboard, the passenger sits securely between the backrest and top case, with solid footing on both sides (and seat heat switch at the passenger's fingertips). Worth noting: the zippered leather pouch on back of the backrest holds a fair amount of stuff, and girls have been known to carry stuff ;o).

Whether that works for your GF's situation, I can't possibly say -- just giving you info as straight as I can.
