Torque Wrench

When you are working on you Scooter, do you use a NM torque wrench when tightening the screws on the body panels? Or just tighten till it feels right?

Me, I just snug them up. And not even a very macho snug. Keep in mind that most of those panel screws are just going into springy metal clips (or, in the case of the windscreen, into brass inserts that are themselves just press-fit into plastic). Never had a panel screw fall out.

And I'm not one of those experienced mechanics who have calibrated hands from years of work. Just a few weeks ago, I put on new shocks on my Royal Enfield ... and I used a torque wrench for that work. The difference is that those bolts were both beefy and critical, and so I didn't want to mess up that project.

Bottom line: I have nothing against torque wrenches -- I have three of them myself, in different ranges -- but I don't use them for little screws or bolts, and especially for non-structural things.

I just snug them up by feel like Bill, haven't lost one yet nor cracked any plastic.

I have the Skill Twist 2.0 electric screw driver with the correct bit. I just let it go until it stops. Then I just snug them by hand to make sure it worked. It just gets them snug. I have not had any issues with the body panel screws doing it this way and I feel like they are all about the same tightness. (I'm always looking for easy solutions.)
