I wasn’t keen on running my phone on its internal battery with the satnav as it discharges the battery within 3-4 hours. Also, I Didn’t want the power lead coming out of the right hand glove box door and flapping around in the wind. So set about connecting the USB phone lead.
Step by step.
Remove Right hand front side panel. Two screws removed the pull away.
Remove Steering top cover. Four screws removed then pull the cover up.
I drilled a 12mm hole in the back bottom right of the right hand glove box.
Then fitted with a 12mm grommet.
Passed a 1m black iPhone USB lead through the grommet and directed it in the direction of the left hand handle bar.
Avoiding the steering head. The 1m lead is just long enough.
I purchased a Quadlock master cylinder mount and mounted on the rear brake master cylinder,
as we drive on the left. If you drive on the right. Perhaps best to mount on the right master cylinder.
A cable clip was stuck to the bottom of the handle bar housing to stop the end of the lead flapping about when the lead wasn’t connected.
Small blob of black sealant in middle of grommet to help seal.
