What are you using for security?

Hey folks, wanted to know what are folks using for security for your bikes? In the US the DWA alarm system does not come standard with the bike, and wondering if it is worth it to have it installed by my dealer for $850+ including parts. Alternatively, can anyone recommend any locks you're using that are good quality? thanks in advance

In addition to the DWA alarm that I had installed, I also use a Monimoto 7, which also works very well. I'm a bit overly security conscious, and so I have both items.

Using a bright orange Grip-Lock on the throttle side for now after I lock the bike steering up (like in the photograph below). And usually don’t stop for long with my CE 04, as I don’t want people messing with it, specially with the sketchy weakly designed rear turn signals that can be easily broken.




Tried this small rear turn signal protector from Wunderlich America:

Wunderlich indicator protection long rear - Piece - black

Part No. 42841-302

It did not fit because our American rear turn signal design version is different from the European and other versions and the protector is too small and the rear turn signal will not fit through the hole to make it work.

Another American member (Powell Kopp) of the International CE 04 Facebook Group came up with a brilliant inexpensive solution: use a thick zip tie like the ones you use on dryer vents and wrap it tight around the base of the rear turn signal unit that connects with the scooter’s license plate bracket. It reinforces the rear turn signal to make it more robust and not as easy to break. The member that came up with this solution said that he bumped it hard after this inexpensive quick fix, and it held nicely without breaking. This might be the quick and easy fix we’ve all been waiting for!

(including while in a garage), such cover will not apply.
1 A D-lock, Disc lock, Grip lock or lockable armoured chain; plus
2 any other security device fitted to or carried on the insured motorcycle; plus
3 any other measure as specified in any endorsement."

If only I had read this before my Honda CRF300L was stolen from my son's place of work car park yesterday.

I think I better order a disc lock for my CE-04 tout suite

Leave it to an insurance company to find a way to screw over their customers. Even if you don't have the alarm system you do have a steering lock, owners should use it every time they get off the bike since it takes no effort other than to turn the wheel left. It's a great deterrent.

On another matter BMW should provide the alarm system as standard equipment just like they do on their cars.What could the module cost them $20-30 we're already paying a premium for the BMW badge.
