Before I dropped it off, i knew it was the belt. Could smell it.

Found the issue.
The nut on the variator...came loose..and then got locked up on itself...
Was properly torqued, made a mess. The sliders melted..shit everywhere.
One side of the nut had about 1/3 of the thread missing, a shiny clean crack where it came apart.
War-an-tee.

Damn! That's just bad luck. I really hope they don't give you a hard time for the self-maintenance/aftermarket parts! You should post pics just for our education.

Nope, no hard time at all.
I'll try to get up there for pics, no guarantee. Have to head out for helping at an air show today, wont be back until Tuesday.
They've seen my car, so they're fairly aware that I can turn a wrench ok.
